Now out their primes and in their mid-to-late 30’s, having both lost their world titles earlier this year, the possibility of them meeting in the fall or early next year will be considered, according to Martinez promoter Lou DiBella.

“I know Felix, and I have great respect for him,” DiBella told RingTV.com. “I think both guys are at similar stages of their career and it’s certainly something worth talking about.”

All of which is music to the ears of Sturm.

“Fighting Sergio Martinez is certainly a great option,” said Sturm. “I always said I would welcome a fight against him and I still do. If he and his team are really interested in a fight, they can reach out to us. And if the right deal can be made – why not?”

Sturm also stated that he is planning to become the world champion for the 5th time.

I'm sure the one they call Triple G would be more than willing to put his strap on the line... even in Germany. :deal:nut:!::tired:hat

    Why?

2 guys who may be past it but are still ranked.

    Hows that "disgraceful"?

It's an interesting fight. I'd watch.

    It's definitely not disgraceful.

    Nope.

Martinez is no longer in the WBC top 40 after losing their belt to Cotto, and is absent from every other top fifteen (WBA/WBO/IBF).

Sturm is WBA #6, IBF #4, not ranked by the WBO or WBC.

Don't most division rankings have him still ranked top 10.

Seems a big jump to go from the top spot to no longer ranked. :think

Sturm would only fight in Germany. Fight won't happen.

Might as well fight now that the stakes are at an all time low.
