Mundine is much more talented and should win this one based on overall skill level. BUT! Since the 2nd Soliman fight, he's clearly on the decline and moving down in weight looks like took away his punching power. In the meantime, Sturm put on a masterclass vs. world level opponent Sylvester, showing an excellent jab, great stamina and better than expected power. I think it's clearly a 50/50 fight in 2009, maybe a slight edge for Sturm if Germany is the venue. What difference a few month can make...

I do rate Sturms jab highly, he fires it so naturally, good weapon.

Mundine v Sturm it'll never happen .Mundine is **** scarred of anyone with ability. He's been dodging Sakio Bika for yonks.

Good point. I dont like Sturm myself, but that doesnt change the fact that he is no pushover for anyone. While Mudine has more natural ability Stum is by far the better technical boxer. Mudine will have this jab in his face all night. And Sturm has a very good timing, and an excellent punch selection. We all know his weaknesses, but at times it may help to mention that Sturm also has his strong points. His performance against Sylvester was very good. That said, i couldnt care less who wins this one, cause both havent been searching for the strongest competition. Maybe i would root for Sturm, cause a unification in germany, Abraham - Sturm , would really be very BIG. Shame on team Sturm for not taking this fight lately. Needless to say Abraham beat him like a drum:bbb:yep

When did Sylvester become a world level opponent, decent but nothing extraordinary?

You're forgetting about chin. Mundine got KOed by Ottke for crying out loud.

Mundine has looked like crap since his eye injury. He's tentative and just doesn't have the swagger he used to have. I'd pick Sturm on points, but I agree this fight won't happen. Universum has been handpicking all of Sturm's opponents so he has significant advantages, and I doubt they'll stop now.

Crazy Kim decked him kind of easy too. Are you forgetting Mundine is Sturm's mando though?

Two guys that have done their best to avoid tough competition in the last few years getting together.... I will go with Mundine.

Old Mundine would be too quick, too athletically gifted, the bigger puncher. I would have expected him to beat Sturm either late stoppage or on points.

He's been extremely poor since his eye problems, and the other unknown of how he fairs at 160 would make me lean towards Sturm.

Faded Mundine or not, I like the fight and I'm picking Sturm to win a close, but clear-cut decision.

Just as Pacquaio is referred to by some as being the Mexicutioner, Sturm is quickly on his way to becoming the same thing with Australians albeit against lesser fighters than Pac. First it was Topp, then Pittman, and now potentially Mundine. Germany is the fortress of doom for Australian fighters.

Look at his ranking before the fight against Sturm. Sylvester was ranked 4, just below Sturm by the ring mag. if I´m not wrong. ;)

Of course Sylvester is world level. People forget how shallow the middleweight division is in the shadow of AA and Pavlik.

Sturm has established himself as the clear next best, and Wright if he ever returns.

Then below that Sylvester, Gevor, Rubio, Duddy etc. Not great.
