Will take Abraham's offer to waive purse for super fight against Sturm

Universum promoter Klaus-Peter Kohl has issued following statement regarding a possible unification clash between German middleweight world champions Felix Sturm (WBA) and Arthur Abraham (IBF): "Felix fought the multiple world champion and US superstar Oscar de La Hoya at the height of his career in Las Vegas and defeated him according to all the experts. Thus, he has already achieved what Arthur wants to be happy. Namely to have a good name in America. With all due respect for Arthur, he is far from being an Oscar de la Hoya. Felix has already defeated Arthur twice as an amateur and I'm quite sure that he would also do it for a third time because Felix is a far superior boxer." As for comments from the Abraham camp in recent days, Kohl stated, "I know Arthur is a man of his word. If he really wants to box Felix for nothing, he should sign a contract and the fight will take place. We gratefully accept the offer. Universum, ZDF, and all of Germany are already looking forward to a great fight." Sturm also weighed in on a possible showdown with Abraham. "Arthur is not a high class boxer like me. He's only famous because of his broken jaw whereas I am through my boxing. Therefore, I do not look at him as my competitor at all. His boxing is clearly inferior. This fight would be the easiest for me in a long time. His only weapon is a hard punch, but otherwise he has nothing to offer. I would be happy to outbox him. Why do the best boxers in the world always want to box against me and not against him? He should ask himself that." Sturm continued, "Meanwhile, his behavior is laughable. If he wants to box for nothing, then he shouldn't talk but should sign a contract relinquishing his purse and the fight is on. It's ridiculous how often the media calls for this fight. No serious businessman in the world does business through the press. The fact that my name is so often in their mouths is abundant evidence of their respect towards me."

Has any champion gone into a unification fight for no money before...?

I think that is the only reason Sturm and Khol would go for the fight, is the extra cash.

I hope Abraham gets this fight.

    ps:

Expect the ring to be a mile long and a mile wide....:verysad

Yeah but the legal use of weed is really screwing the people up here:-:)lol:

Joval retired from boxing a few weeks ago. Cool that you know him! I saw him 3 weeks ago during a boxing event in Amsterdam. He works as a bus-driver in Amsterdam now.

Arthur will run Sturm over like a dump truck runs over a squirrel. Felix doesn't have the power to discourage Abraham at all. (actually who does? A broken jaw didn't even stop him). And Sturms durability is highly questionable since his KO loss. Sturm struggles too much with ordinary fighters to be any type of threat to Abraham
