    Morning Gents,

We have an interesting fight happening on Friday, and I've not seen a thread about it yet, but apologies if theres been one.

Zbik is coming off a sizeable layoff, since last June, where he lost an MD to Chavez Jr (Thanks Boxrec). No shame in that. How do we think his recent inactivity and the fact he's not had a tune-up will affect his performance? Is he right to be favourite?

Sturm is coming off a few lacklustre performances. He won an SD against Macklin, I personally had Macklin winning but no massive problem with it being given to Sturm and also an un-impressive performance against Murray - I think a draw was the right call.

My feelings is that Sturm is ripe for the picking, the decisions in his last two could've gone to Murray and Macklin, he's seen better days and I think that Zbik is going to take this over the distance.

How do you guys see it going? :think

    :bbb

If Zbik fights the way he did against Chavez with intensity early on and throws his shots he has a big chance in this one. Sturm is not quite the fighter he was in my opinion and he is pretty conservative until the closing stages in his fights, he seems to doubt his stamina fighting at pace, although he has done the distance many times.

All three results are in the frame here for me, Sturm may get favours as he has the tv deal but if he was to lose you can bet there is a pretty instant rematch clause and they could sell that on tv with the revenge angle.

Interesting fight, Sturm just favourite for me but looking forward to it.

That's a good point with Sturm's hesitancy to fight at pace early on, it was very apparent against Macklin. When Sturm started loading up and upping the workrate later on he really took control, but it was just too little too late for me in that particular fight.

I think Sturm wins a close decision, probably a Split.

Do you think he's win it legitimately, or get a gift?

In the OP I said that Zbik is the favourite, don't know where I got that from, just checked the odds out... :conf

I'm not sure pal, going on Sturm's last few fights you'd have to think Zbik has a great chance.

Aye, I'm sure it'll be a good fight either way.

It's getting a bit lonely over here in the Zbik corner.

I think zbik will win the fight over the distance but the question really is will he get the decision, strums the bigger star obviously. I thought macklin won like many others here, just didn't get the decision

Sturm looks to be coming to end IMO, I think this fight suits him a lot more then Macklin and Murray but Zbik has a chance although for life of me i have no clue how a certain poster went on a while back like he was some great talent...

I think Sturm decision. I think he will be able to impose himself on Zbik (due to Zbiks power) and jab him to a decision in a slow-mid paced fight. I also think he's going to up his workrate and be a little more aggressive to try and make up for his previous performances.
