I don't like this WBA Super belt stuff.

The way I see it is the regular WBA belt is Monzon and Hagler's old belt. It was always a legit world title. The Super belt is what? It's a nonsense.

Poor Golovkin. Nicest hardest working guy in the world with sickening KO power. No one wants to get it on. How anyone can root for Sturm is beyond me. GGG will be the Lineal MW champion. I hope he fights the winner of Chavez Jr and Sexy Sergio.

The Super belt is the real WBA belt. The regular WBA belt is one they just made up. Although,Golovkin is the better fighter and deserves the real WBA title at this point. A super champion just means unified champion really.

I am tipping Proska to beat Glovkin, he has been in with better fighters.

Geale has always impressed on the score cards. I favour Geale to present more fluidly than Sturm and will seem busier at times also.

Even in Germany, Geale will be hard to out score especially with judges that favour activity over effectiveness.

If Geale can manage the Sturm jab, which he didnt do particulary well against Sylvester, then those hoping Sturm goes away may actually get their wish.

Judges in Germany favour effectiveness over activity. Activity is more favoured in the US it seems.

Sturm always pullling some bull****. Granted he got robbed against De La Hoya, but this ******* has gotten away with shitloads of garbage decisions.

geale might finally be the one to get the decision over there, macklin beat him clearly and murray also probably deserved the close win, sturms luck(and judges dodgy scoring)may finally run out on him

I don't get it. The Super belt is new, the regular belt is old and well established.

Surely the belt any middleweight wants to have is the same one that Monzon and Hagler had?

Unified? What does that mean? There hasn't been a unified middleweight champion since Hopkins.

No the WBA champion, the real one is the Super WBA belt because a champion gets promoted to Super WBA champ when he has the WBA belt and at least one other major title (IBF,WBO,WBC) or makes a certain number of title defenses.
So Sturm won the true WBA title but then got promoted to WBA super and thet "regular WBA title" was created new. Golovkin got the new title.

Let me use the heavyweights as a better example. Valuev was the WBA champion. This was the same WBA title held by Ali,Tyson,Foreman etc
Valuev loses to Haye who loses to Wlad Klitschko. Wlad already held IBF and WBO title so he becomes WBA super champ. Then WBA makes Alexander Povetkin the WBA regular champ. Basically the WBA wants 2 champs in every weight class. But the regular WBA title is meaningless because a regular WBA belt holder has to vacate his title if he wants to challenge for another major title. Golovkin has the newly created Regular WBA title and Sturm has the real title.

That is what is supposed to happen but it isn't the case with the WBA MW situation.

    1) Purpose of the WBA Super Champion belt is to make it impossible for any of their Champions to unify with WBO,WBC,IBF. If they do unify they are "promoted" to super champion so that they can create a WBA Regular belt out of thin air and have 2 Champions paying them sanctioning fees.

    2) Sturm was the WBA Regular Champion but he didn't want to fight his WBA mandatory #1 Golovkin. After allowing Sturm to avoid his mandatory on a couple of occasions and realizing that the situation wasn't going to go away they simply "promoted" Sturm to Super Champion and issued a new vacant WBA Regular title for Golovkin to fight for. Sturm wasn't ever going to fight Golovkin, Felix brings in big money in Germany and they didn't want to lose him as a Champion.

    3) The WBA Super Champion is supposed to unify with the Regular Champion within 18 months but Sturm has also refused to do that. After 5 or 6 voluntary defenses the WBA finally said a couple months ago that he had to unify with Golovkin. The one loop hole was Sturm could unify with another orgs Champion instead so that's why he's fighting Geale. If Sturm wins expect him to drop the WBA Super Title and keep the IBF belt. He'll still be a Champion and he will no longer have to unify the WBA belts with Golovkin.
