LAS VEGAS -- Middleweight world champion Kelly Pavlik faces Jermain Taylor on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in their 166-pound non-title rematch, but his promoter, Top Rank's Bob Arum, is laying the groundwork for Pavlik's next fight.

It could come against former three-division champion Felix Trinidad on June 7 at New York's Madison Square Garden, Arum told ESPN.com on Friday.

Win or lose, Pavlik will remain middleweight champion and Arum is planning his first defense. The leading candidate remains popular rising contender "Irish" John Duddy, who is a big attraction in New York. But Arum said he has also spoken to Don King, Trinidad's promoter, about making Pavlik-Trinidad, which would take place the night before the annual Puerto Rican Day parade in New York.

I wouldnt mind this fight...totally unfair to people like Duddy, Sturm, and Winky...but Imgine Titos big PR fan base and Kelly's Youngstown fans all at the Garden...that would be pretty crazy

Tito got his ass handed to him by Winky and Jones in his last 2 fights so I don't see why this fight would happen.

This is probably the second-best fight that can happen at MW other than Pavlik-Abraham. That says a lot about the state of the division. Imagine if an old Trinidad caught Pavlik and knocked him out, what a great end to a career that would be. Obviously, a Pavlik knockout is almost guaranteed, but that 1% chance that Trinidad makes it more interesting than other mismatches.

Tito would get his head beat into his torsol. This is not a fight I'd like to see Tito in. Pavlik has everything wrong for Tito. JAB, POWER, SPEED, and SIZE.

Tito doesn't seem to be a smart fighter, and he won't seem to be a smart person if this fight happens.

Good Lord, I like Tito and I don't want to see anymore of this. He needs to fight someone with decent name recognition but not someone who is clearly going to beat him, in fact he should fight Duddy. He should take a couple decent fights and get out, I'm a huge Pavlik fan but even I don't want to see this happen to Tito's career.

Props to Tito for ALWAYS fighting the best fighters out there. With that said, Pavlik by KO in 7 rounds.

Jesus.. With the time off between bouts and getting mopped up everytime he gets in the ring I would think tito would take time and realize boxing has passed him by. IF this fight happens I have no doubt tito gets mopped up again. I doubt he gets down to 160...
