thing is tito is not the same at the weight of 160+

 

i agree, at 160 or higher, tito is not the same.I'm not sure what it was, but he didnt really look as sharp, fast and apparently forgot how to counterpunch, or maybe because the punches were heavier he didnt want to stay in the pocket. I say this with the exception of the Joppy fight, but apparently his handwraps were illegal or something, so to me it stands that he just wasnt the same from 160 up, and when he retired he just made it worst.

 

It depends how do you define 'limited skills'. If you think Tito has limited skills BECAUSE he got beaten by 3 HOFs, two of them are top 50 ATG-s, that's wrong thinking. 'Cuz he fought and defeated Whitaker and of course Oscar (I had it Oscar by 1 point) and that's something.

I wouldn't say that he's that limited. I'd say he's a bit one dimensional, but was damn good in that dimension. I'd say that he's not the best skilled boxer but in his finest days he had enough tools to punch himself into the HOF league...

 

I say true only because i'm tying ring generalship and boxing IQ into boxing skills. Tito looked horrible cutting off the ring against DLH and got dominated by Hopkins and Wright (Tito and Wright are closer to the same natural weight so no real excuses for this one). If a fighter is struggling, he has to be able to adapt and change his gameplan. That's when a fighter like Hearns, for example, showed how great he was in SRL-Hearns I.

But, when I saw Tito get dominated for 12 rounds by Wright, having no clue what to do in the ring, that showed me his boxing skills were limited.

 

The problem with Tito adjusting to Hopkins and Rjj is that both fighter are natural boxer themselves with speed and power themselves , there would have been little he could do in ether case , it a simple case of a good big man and will alway beat a good little man.

as example Floyd is one the most gifted technical boxer who is able to adjust to his opponents game

So even if Floyd fought Rjj even today there would little doubt the Roy would beat Floyd, there would be little he could to adjust his game to beat Rjj bigger and just as fast Rjj.

some time skill is just not enough in cases like that.

Great Accuracy

All made up for his very weak boxing skills.

Trinidad never had another game plan but plot forward and through punches. He had a weak defense and was always getting tagged and KD.

But like I said, the above attributes made up for his clumsy footwork, lack of defense, and lack a basic boxing skills.

 

he threw punches technically very well but not very creatively. a very talented robot.

 

on his prime no question about it that he can box + power
but in any sports age is still a factor specially in sport of boxing...
Trinidad should let it go coz it time...
