Okay, I used to be a fax of Tito because of his punching pwers especially BEFORE his fight with Bernard Hopkins. But when the whole thing broke out around this time about him gettin his hands illegally taped to be like cement i stopped being a fan of his. Keep in mind that it was Hopkins trainers who first exposed his ILLEGAL handrapping right in the locker room before the fight. Hopkins trainer asked tito's father to re-wrap the hands in front of him and tito's dad said "No".

When he was forced to release the tape, low and behold they find that his hands were taped to be like cement. When the the hands were taped the right way, Tito never was able to hurt Hopkins in the fight. To me it was a let down to find out this guy was cheating all this time....

    His power was overrated.:deal

Are we all familiar with what happened immediately prior to the Hopkins-Trinidad fight? Hopkins trainer went to Tito's dressing room to watch him tape his hands, and they were already taped and gloved. Hopkins trainer says cut em off, Tito's father says no... The NSAC rules specifically state that a fighter has the right to have a rep watch his oppenent be taped and have his gloves put on. So Tito takes the gloves off, and apparently the left hand is taped MASSIVELY illegally... The way I read it (on MaxBoxing at the time) was there was a layer of tape covered in guaze that was SOAKED in water, then taped over again. When most of the water came out, that guaze set like cement. Hopkins trainer said they practically had to cut it off with a chainsaw. So Tito's father goes to retape the hand, and starts to do it THE EXACT SAME WAY. Hopkins guy flips out, the NSAC guy makes them cut it off again, Tito gets gloved up, and never hurts Hopkins in the fight.

So does everyone overrate Tito Trinidad? I was a huge fan up until that point, but illegally taping the hands certainly explains the power explosion. Mainstream press (and I'm talking specifically about Dan Rafael here) always attributed the power surge to the added weight, and never mentioned the taping of the left. Joppy even said it was the hardest he'd ever been hit, and look at who he's fought. I just get tired of press gloating over people I feel are cheaters (Bonds, Trinidad, Lance Armstrong), and if I read one more "Greatest Welterweight of all Time" statement about Trinidad, I'll puke. He could've been, but forfeited the claim when he got caught.

The man is overrated especially by Puerto Ricans. I rate Camacho over this Fraud!

The taping is not a big difference,

it's like if you tape Calderon hands he will have enough power to KO a fly

The iilegal taping is big. If it were not that big of a deal then why did Hopkins trainer want his hands to be retaped?

Why did the rules say that it was illegal?

Why was he not as effective with his hads "LEGALLY wrapped?

I think people just view you as a bit of a dick, and they can't be bothered getting caught up in a troll like thread.
