Now that is an interesting match up. I honestly have no idea who wins this. On paper, Trinidad has the better WW resume. And Trinidad is the more deadly puncher. But, when I watch films of a prime Donald Curry, he was a phenomenal fighter. In many ways, a more complete fighter than Trinidad. I could see Curry's speed and movement giving Trinidad fits. And, it wasn't like Curry didn't have good power himself. For whatever reason, Curry's star fell quickly. But, on his best day, I think he might be too much for Felix.

Curry would need to jump on Tito early, when Tito usually has a flash knockdown. Otherwise, Tito TKO's Curry in 10 rounds.

I think Curry was excellent at 147...but Trinidad was a lethal puncher at the weight. I think Curry wins more rounds, but I can see Trinidad scoring two KD's and taking a close decision.

Tito was a limited fighter compared to a peak curry..i actually think curry carried more power........until he hit 40 no one did to mccallum what curry did.......plus don beat a better level of opponent at 147....marlon starling twice who was superior at welterweight to odlh, mayorga and the rest at that stage in their careers....curry beat all ranges of style from a fast runner nino larocca to a pressure fighter colin jones...a tall boxer mcrory.....tito could never outbox curry ,i see curry easily outboxing him and discouraging him with his power...proof of how adept donald was ,is that totally shot .....and fighting on memory.... he was dead even in the fight with nunn after 8 rounds until he gassed and gave terry Norris a lot of problems ......curry at his peak had wonderful defence ,offence, power and confidence...i rate him over mosley,odlh,quartey....and i take him to beat floyd at ww

Curry was one of those fighters that got involved in managerial conflicts, and from that point on, was never the same. The original Dave Gorman trained Curry, could have been probably an ATG...but we will never know.

Very good match up. Both men could bang but felix has the edge there. Curry I think the better boxer. Chin wise not much to choose between em. So curry could give him a boxing master class like against starling, get him self a nice decision. But if he trades with felix I see him been ko'd hard as he was against mcallum. And that I feel is the most likely outcome. So Trinidad ko's curry round 7 is my pic.

    Great matchup

Both guys would start cautiously, staying on the outside looking to jab the other in an effort to find openings. Curry had the superior defense and the vast majority of Felix's blows would find glove or air. Curry would use subtle movement to slip and time Trinidad's punches. He would counter a Trinidad hook with is own hook to deposit Felix on the canvas. Trinidad would rise unhurt and the action would continue. As the fight progresses, Curry begins to get inside of Trinidad's long range punches and moves in to work Trinidad's body. As Trinidad slows down from the combined effects of missing so many punches and the body attack, Donald begins to land more frequently. Around the 10th round, he hurts Trinidad badly with a straight right. Trinidad not used to clinching, does so , but Curry throws him off. Donald pours in punches on the hurt and tiring Trinidad but the bell sounds, granting Felix a reprieve. If this is a scheduled 12 rounder - Curry tries valiantly to finish Felix over the last two rounds but the game Trinidad keeps firing punches. Finally, the final bell sounds. The two warrios embrace. Curry is awarded a well earned UD. If it's a15 rounder, Curry stops Trinidad somewhere between the 13th and 15th rounds.

Could honestly go either way. If I had to put $ on it I would have to lean towards Trinidad. He was more durable and consistent. I could see Tito getting or coming back from being hurt but I couldn't see Curry being able to do that against Trinidad.

This is how I see it too Saad....
Curry was something special,...a real big deal before his coach turned into a pumpkin sometime after that McCrory fight. Honeyghan didn't beat that Curry.

The Curry who fight Honeyghan had major weight and managerial
problems and his grandfather died . So his mind was not in a good
place. The Honeyghan fight ruined him. However the DC who
destroyed McCrory and who was talked about as one of the best p for p
fighters and a was in line for Hagler was good, really good.
DC too sharp for Felix. DC on pts.

    He was special.

I was never a big fan because I liked underdogs, but it was obvious he was the dominant welterweight for about 3 yrs.

He destroyed two really quality fighters in LaRocca and McCrory and beat Starling twice. All those guys were thought to have a chance before the fight but he shut them down.

He should be in the HOF.

He dominated a division and unified the title.

That should be enough for HOF inclusion.

Many others have gained entry on less objective credentials..

Unfortunately, admittance to the HOF is not based soley on objective analysis of a guy's ability and accomplishments.

I think most who followed his era would agree.
