This was a fight I was really hoping was going to happen back in about 1995 when they were both beltholders. I would have picked Tito then and I pick him now. I can see both fighters getting dropped (Tito with his almost customary early rounds knockdown) but Tito always seemed to get better as fights progressed at WW and Quartey wasn't that elusive so I think he'd land enough to keep Ike at bay over the distance. Would have been a good one, though.
Tito's consistent power and strength in the mid late rounds takes this but it would be close. Quartey's jab would frustrate Tito early on. Tito had an underrated jab, sure it wasn't a truly snapping weapon but he used it effectively to set up his right hand and when in trouble he smartly always went back to it. I also think Tito is stronger here on the inside here. His push off-short right hand was a great weapon plus his left hook was always there. Would not be surprised if Tito is down coming into the mid rounds but he turns it around based on his offensive power over the last 6 rounds.
quartey has a better jab then winky wright but he doesn't have the high guard defense he takes a lot of shots ... tito stops him in the 9th
