The Blade was a big middleweight with alot of power in both hands. He threw wide but also from awkward angles which made him very effective. Sort of like a baseball pitcher who threw hard but was just a bit wild. Iran didn't have too good of a defense but he made up for it with an iron chin and warrior spirit. He was tough. Trinidad had a smaller sample size at this weight. He was a giant Welterweight at 5-11 and still a good size 160lber. He showed he still packed plenty of power in his destruction of William Joppy. He was picked apart by a boxing master in Bernard Hopkins. A defensive guru. Later he put away former WBC Champ Hassine Cherifi in 4 rounds. Tito had better boxing skills than Barkley. Better technique, certainly quicker hands. Can Trinidad get his punches in to Barkley without catching too much in return? Felix will certainly land but can he hurt Iran enough? Will Barkley's face hold up? His eyes? Who takes this one?
This is why I actually thought Ricardo Mayorga could beat Trinidad...I thought Mayorga could catch Trinidad with something wild
I actually like Barkley here. Trinidad was a much more well rounded fighter and a higher calibre, but I don't know how well he could cope with Barkley's strength and power. There's a lot of question marks around the middleweight version of Tito. I see it unfolding similarly to the first Hearns fight, with Tito dishing out some serious punishment early, Barkley eating it up before landing something big that hurts Trinidad and turning the pace of the fight.
Trinidad was better than Barkley and had a hook as good as Nigel Benn`s, Barkley was destroyed by Benn.
I'm not counting out Barkley. He soaked up some scary punishment from Hearns before landing the big haymaker. He'd be in there and dangerous. What is Tito going to belt him with that Hearns didn't? Good to see a well thought out matchup - this is a ripper.
Trinidad, as has been pointed out is a much better fighter than Iran. What he is not is a big enough middleweight to to wobble Iran and I think being in front of Barkley for several rounds will eventually spell doom. Tito was put down by much weaker hitters than Barkley.
He should not be counted out but Trinidad is the favourite to win in my opinion with his shorter and faster punches
Barkley would hammer Trinidad, there is no way he could stop Barkley a peak Blade would stop tito in 5 rounds
Oh man, I'm going with Iran. Felix the more skillful but in my mind I see Iran being out Boxed for a couple of rounds then Barkley just blasting through. Barkley by tko 3.
Benn was another level to Trinidad punch wise mark, not as refined but Benn is another level in power
I'm not sure i'd have him favorite tbh. Barkley is big, strong and durable and the much bigger man. It's a solid match.
