Yep at least from what I've seen from the Monzon fight. He was pretty competitive early but after the 4th(?) Monzon figured out how to land his punches better and he hit Napoles with some big shots. Napoles' corner stopped the fight and I think he got dropped a few times. Note, this was all at MW where Napoles wasn't at his best but was still good.
I'm not sure if Napoles ever hit the canvas in his career. I could be wrong. Checked it and he was in fact down against Jimmy Fields, though it was not a serious knockdown and Napoles came back to stop him.
Napoles subtle pressure, and brilliant combining of offence and defence as he comes forward, would keep Trinidad off-balance all night long. Just as Tito set his feet to punch, Napoles would slide to the side and unleash his own shots. I could see Napoles sharp-shooting him to hell for 10 rounds before a referee saves Tito.
GEEZ! Look, Tito can't box for ****, but he was huge at 147 with power.... My guess is, he eventually stalks and pounds the smaller, weaker Joe Naps into submission after round 9 and gets the win....... MR.BILLbbb
I have a horrible feeling that if this fight was actually coming off I would tend to pick Tito and then look like a right mong when he loses every round. The size, power and the wee man's propensity to cut would just put me off picking him I think. I certainly don't dispute that he's the better fighter and maybe even the better welter but I just don't now that I could pick him.
Naw... Don't fret or lose sleep........:-( Just remember, Tito has never lost to much smaller men, even if more skilled....... Dude's like "DLH, Hops, Wright & Jones" were either close or bigger in size and strength.................... Naps has the frame of a man 135 to 140 pounds fighting at 147............. Tito would be out-boxed---EARLY, but come on strong later and eventually break-thru with power at 147 that Naps would not like......... MR.BILLbbb
Napoles was also decked by Carlos Hernandez early in their mid-sixties lightweight bout that Jose won in the 6th by tko...and wasn't Stracey credited with a kd in that last fight of Napoles?
Red, I will not doubt Joe Naps' heart, soul amd willpower, but his great little ass was small at 147... Similar to "Zabra Judah & Meldrick Taylor." Of course better than both ex-champs.... Naps was a great fighter between 135 to 147 pounds, but so was Tito at 127 to 154...... 160? Well, neither proved great there..... :deal At 147, Tito gets his man..... As long as it isn't '99 DLH! Tito beat DLH at 147 in 1999.:rofl:roll::-(
I hate it when people make predictions like that, it's like predicting someone to win by split decision
Nobody who was getting outboxed by Anthony Stephens is getting round Napoles without anything short of a schooling.
