Would Marquez be able to deal with an offensive juggernaut like Trinidad and box in the same fashion like De La Hoya @ 147? Or will Trinidad be too big and powerful even for a technician like JMM? I can see Marquez getting dropped but I’m not sure if he’ll be able to recover quickly like he normally does since Trinidad is a great finisher.
Interesting match up or brutal mismatch?

I am a big JMM fan, but this seems a mismatch to me.

Tito probably stops him inside of 8

Huge size gap and a bad matchup for JMM stylistically, given Tito's power and Marquez's aggressiveness. Tito stops him in 6 or less.

My two favorite fighters of my lifetime with Marquez being my #1 but yeah this is a very bad match for him at 147. He’d be too small so Tito could walk forward with a huge size advantage, reach advantage and the knowledge nothing coming back would hurt and in addition Marquez doesn’t have the length or the type of style to run away.

Tito inside the distance is a sure thing.

On a pound for pound level Marquez wins a great fight probably climbing off the canvas but countering Tito well to win a close decision.

I think it's really interesting how JMM has never been stopped in his entire career but when it comes to fantasy fights you'll still see people saying that a certain fighter can stop him. Perhaps it has to do with the amount of times he's been dropped and how he was in the brink of being stopped by Pac himself before landing the KO.
But in this case, Trinidad may be the worst kind of fighter to get dropped and recover from.

Marquez maxed out as a lightweight. At Welterweight he fought the light hitting defense minded Bradley and Mayweather who had no interest in going for it. Pacquaio, Marquez already had history with and was also a much smaller welterweight. Marquez has a ton of heart and an iron will be had he fought welterweight killers like Tito he’d have been KO’d. Marquez wouldn’t go to 147 in the 90s because Mayweather wouldn’t have dared nor would Top Rank have pushed Pacquaio up that far.

There’s not many (if any) lightweights and under who’d KO Marquez IMO. Duran being the most likely but Marquez’ grit gets him to the final bell.

I say Marquez is the better fighter p4p but we're talking about a blown-up natural featherweight against a fully fledged welterweight.

I love Marquez and I love Trinidad but I wouldn't love to see this mismatch.

Finally a fantasy fight for JMM where Marquez does not see the final bell. After looking silly for a round or two, Trinidad takes Marquez' head off.

I'm a fan of Marquez. And stylistically this works because Marquez loves to light up straight in and out guys who have no lateral footmovement like Diaz, Alvarado, katsidis.

Now obvious Tito is better all around than those guys(largely because of his power) but Titos feet were not better than those guys at all.

However......Marquez is waaay too small for this one. He might drop Tito but Tito knocks him out.
Tito killed himself to make welterweight
Marquez bulked up to LW and wasnt effective above LW until he went real heavy on the juice.

Cotto would have stopped him as well in 2016/17

Should play out similar to the Oba Carr fight. I’ll bet Marquez hangs on until the late rounds though.

Marquez would get knocked out in about 3 or 4. Sort of like Norris vs. Taylor.

Agreed! Marquez has no chance whatsoever.
