Hearns chin was a disgrace? He was stopped only 3 times in 67 fights. Hearns chin faced some hard hitters who were sharp. I wouldn't call it a disgrace. If you saw the punches Barkley landed on him in the rematch and the Roldan punches and others, you wouldn't call it a disgrace. It could be undependable at times, but so could Titos, which is a big factor in him taking Hearns right hand.
At 147 Hearns was a force of nature. He was a much better boxer and athlete than Trinidad. It's amazing that 'boxing fans' can't see the obvious. DLH outboxed Tito. Hearns would not only outbox him, he would leave him unconscious.
Does Tito get to use his illegal wraps? If so, Hearns in 2. If not, Hearns in 4. I'm sure Tito would've fought a lot less aggressively if he wasn't cheating.
Faster, bigger, taller, stronger, jabber, had underrated defense, Hitman would play with Tito and keep him on the end of his jab, setting him up for the right. 2-3 knockdowns later, Tito gets stopped. Hearns much smarter too.
Beat me to it. I saw the fight a few years ago and saw highlights a few months ago and Hearns toke hard shots from the big punching Barkley and went the distance. His "limited durability" gets blown way out of proportion but then again many people here don't study fights and know what they're talking about. Some are good fellows here but few inbetween.
Even Vargas(not knocking him the guy was great in his prime) was outboxing Trinidad in the mid rounds. Hearns would jab his head off. I LOVE Trinidad but I admit not as much as I love the Fab 4 still I can't see any other outcome than Hearns by ko. I can't wait to watch more of Hearns' fights but as dangerous as Trinidad was, Hearns was more dangerous and a much better boxer-type. He wouldn't have much problems with Trinidad as he wasn't as durable as a Roldan or Barkley but Hearns still ko'd Roldan and went the distance with Barkley once.
