I concur.Tito did not disgrace himself against a prime middleweight Hopkins.I think he could give Hearns a decent fight at welter in a losing effort.
No. He doesn't. Hearns is just too tall and rangy for Trinidad; Hearns throws lefts at him at will and peppers with the long right until he finallly catches a really serious one. Add into that Tito's balance and sketchy footwork and he is done for. Tito goes down in about 4 or 5, once Tommy lands the really serious right. ****, Tito probably goes down in the early rounds a couple of times too. I could easily see Hearns put Tito down 3 or 4 times.
Tito's shaky chin+Hearns' right hand= Tito asleep by the 3-4 round. And he's not getting back up. Tito had a propensity to get caught early, thus the early KO for Hearns.
I think this comes down to straight out boxing. Hearns delivers here. He'll show those qualities that he used against Leonard. Hearns vs Trinidad, I give it to Hearns by late tko or decision. But damn, this would have been a great fight.
Another thing, Tito was succeptible to the right hand. Hoya landed right hands against Trinidad the whole night but he was just getting used to not being a "one handed fighter" as the Trinidad camp called him. What if the same boxing ability that befuddled Trinidad was grouped with savage power behind that punch he had no answer to?
Hearns has to be heavily fancied here, he can use his range and land bombs while outboxing tito and though i think tito's chin is better than it is credited as being it won't stand up to hearns shots If trinidad can narrow the angle and work at mid to close range then it could be intresting, he has certainly has the power to take tommy out and if he hurts tommy he is the kind of finisher to make sure that hearns wouldn't survive. However my money would heavily be behind a hearns KO within 6
