Just rewatching some of his highlights... Wow, such an impressive fighter.

Elite level conditioning, elite level power, unteachable killer instinct, great technique... Truly awesome.

How would he have fared against in the 70's-80's and 2009-16 @ WW?

The only WW from 09-16 with a shot against him is Mayweather. Mayweather would outbox him until Trinidad catches up to him. It's just whether Trinidad can catch up to him or if Floyd can hang on to win a decision. Stylistically it favours Mayweather

I think he loses to Leonard - gets outmoved a bit too much

Beats Hearns - Hearns outboxes him early but Trinidad had the better stamina, would keep coming and get to him late

Beats Duran - Duran would get smashed coming in. Duran has similar stylistic issues to the Hearns bout

Beats Napoles - same as above really

Benitez - similar to the Mayweather fight, it's hard to say if Benitez outboxes him or if Trinidad can catch up to him and break him down

Beats Curry - Curry might outbox him early but Trinidad I think keeps coming and breaks Curry down.

    I see him stopping Floyd.

Floyd is the better Boxer, but Tito's will, power, cardio and ability to take a shot from Floyd would be too much for him.

He's a legit big dude as well. He isn't a FW jumping up the ranks.

I have watching a lot of early Trinidad fights lately. Here are a few trends that I noticed.

    Positive:

    - He is absolutely tenacious. He will never stop coming at you. You will be the one who has to move. If he hurts you...it’s is almost and guarantee that you will be out of there.

    - He has extreme power in both hands. He throws with so much conviction that when he missed his hook he almost hugs himself.

    - He studies his opponents. He starts out with minor pressure and head movement but once he sees what he is looking for he starts the march and continues until one of you is destroyed.

    Negative:

    - He is wildly inaccurate. He misses sometimes by miles even when he has the guy hurt. This is reason I have a problem seeing him beat Pretty Boy.

    - Chinny. Not china but not chinny. You can put him on the mat if you hit hard enough. The thing is he usually gets up and continues beating on you.

    - Not very fast. His hand speed is just OK.

    - Ring Intelligence. He doesn’t adapt, or counter or set traps. This is why he subject to getting outboxed.

    - No variety of punches. For such a great puncher he doesn’t jab, or change levels. He never body punches. He really only throws two punches. The left hook and the right.

Against Floyd I think he loses because of his lack of speed and predictability and also his lack of defense. Floyd can deal with the pressure and will be able to elude the worst of Trinidad power...but Floyd has to be in his A+ game because anything less is getting him sent home.

I strongly disagree with some of these picks.
Leonard & Hearns both beat the hell out of him. A top shape Duran gets inside and breaks him apart as Trinidads boxing skills were slightly above average.
Napoles gives him the boxing lesson of his life as does Benitez.
    I'll give you Curry.
    Mayweather is a toss up

He basically stopped Mayorga with body shots.

That was a great fight and what you say is true to a certain degree. He did stop Mayorga with a body shot but the vast majority of his work was headshots.

I also remember the commentary lamenting that they wished he would throw more body shots because seemed rarely to do so but when he did it was effective.

Roy Jones was one of those commentators.

I just genuinely think he LOVED sparking his opponents clean out. There's no other explanation.

Tito has become absurdly under rated .. he was big, fast, extremely well conditioned , had an amazing assortment of punches, defended the title fifteen times , defeated a prime De La Hoya and never lost at welterweight .. a monster two handed puncher .. in addition had tremendous heart as demonstrated in his comeback over Oscar and his war w Vargas ..

How do you think he would do against Robinson?

It's pretty hard to pick anyone over Robinson at 147 , wouldn't you say ? I say w confidence that he's a top ten welter.

No way Tito beats Hearns, Hearns ouboxes him throughhout and stops him late. Benitez and Floyd school him.

I think Crawford would beat him. Crawford is one of the mentally strongest fighters around and can hurt anyone at 147.
