I guess women should have that right to box, but I don't like it..I'd rather watch midget laCrosse or synchronized swimming, but I love that USB **** with Gina Carrano...that's different.
I am a BIG Christy Martain fan from the 1990's, in her hey day, she was top dog imo. The Ali beating she got, should not effect her ranking, It like ranking Louis on Marciano or Ali on Holmes imo. Prime for Prime, it would have been a match for the ages.
Womens boxing works when it is topless and involves oil..... Women's Pro boxing is a freak show, women should not box like that, it never looks right.
As a group they haven't developed much in terms of skill, and that's because of the dearth of female boxers. Can a woman develop into a technician at the level of Chavez? I'd say yes, but only if more women compete. And I don't see that happening. Sure, more women get tattoos now, but that ain't gonna translate into them taking shots in the ring for a living at the same rate as men. As a sport, it has not taken off and that's because sports fans prefer watching the elite. Not the "elite" with an asterisk attached (*the best women). I've sparred with women. It is difficult because I don't hit women. Period. So, I'm slipping shots and tapping them to the body and if their trunks are up high, that leaves me about 5 inches between the bosoms and the beltline. It ain't easy. As a matter of biology, women are not designed for combat. They are designed to give birth. The politically correct be damned. Women's breasts are glands, they're not muscles and they should not be punched. I can't help but notice how violently a less-muscled feminine neck snaps back or how quickly a hemotoma appears after a shot or two on a women's more delicate features. As a matter of taste, I don't watch it. I consider boxing to be one of the last bastions of unbridled masculinity and chauvinism --and damn, can't we have one club to ourselves in the modern world? Dempsey was "treated" to the spectacle of female boxing in France I think. He was disgusted. I understand. Violence is and should be a masculine endeavor. We're designed for it. Women are not. Women in the ring as trainers, referees, or outside the ring as judges is fine with me. But as fighters? They have the right I suppose. But then, I have the right to shake my head at a world that has too many "rights" and not enough "sense".
i am all for it. if there was ali-wolfe, that could of been a ppv for most it's not a full time proffesion it's a really really strong hobby. and the girls who have the ability and skills rise to the top in less than 4 fights. problem is that the amateur ranks are pretty poor for female boxing so it means that some girls learn on the job. jaime clampitt possibly the best female boxer i have ever seen has a almighty am record of 25-6 that is nothing compared to even limited male contenders. gatti, mayorga, litzau. all have bigger am records than hers and they are clearly not the most skilled. my point is that there is nowhere to fully grow and develop. and that those who do have the financial backing the group backing and a good training camp that are ok with girls (it's very common to turn them down at the door) why some/most girls look like they are amateurs is becuase usually they are amateurs with a pro record. also what doesnt help is that the ranks are immensly weak. also girls are smaller than men physically across th eboard. so heavyweight becomes a barren landscape while minimumweight is a jam packed division....and what can be so unpopular 106lbs of female boxing. loads of new talent is coming through and the 1st female olympics will be in london i heard. too sum up for the unbothered to read thru 1) not big enough comp and opposition 2) not enough support amateur or pro 3) not fully commited fighters
perfect example chantel cordova a good solid technician has been in the gym for years and knows how to work, unity young is clueless on what she is suppose to do www.youtube.com ZalK5LOcjVw
If it is evenly matched and both women can fight and its a good fight I enjoy watching it, there are some very tough women out there in the gyms training and if they want to fight then thats their choice I have seen a good many kickboxing women's fights and have almost always enjoyed them, its only when you see a fighter take dreadful beating that I don't like it this is the same with mens fights as well though.
Katie Taylor changed my perception of the women's game. She's a 2-time world amateur champion, probably the best amateur female p4p in the world. I've seen the girl fight & train in our national stadium and she is no joke, hits the heavy bag like she has pistons in her shoulder. She fought a US amateur on the undercard to Dunne - Cordoba and she wasn't out of place at all. For her sake I hope they make women's amateur boxing an olympic sport. Having said that I think Katie is an exceptional athlete and probably not a good reflection of the women's game as a whole. Also IMO I would prefer to watch females in the amateurs with headgear rather than the professional arena.
Only female boxing I ever watched was the one in the "Million Dollar Baby Movie"..... Nope, I don't like female boxing. It looks weird. But, if girls wanna box, that is their right, and if somebody wanna watch, that is also their right
Martin gave the fans her monies worth. She had a great war with Sue Chase on one of the under cards. The trouble with women's boxing is, the top talent does not meet often enough. Martin was supposed to meet Lucia Ryker ( spelling ). The Dutch Ryker was a skilled bomber, but Martin never made the fight until she proved she was a women, accusing Ryker of having a testerone level well above normal men. Part of the problem with women's boxing is there are very few mega fights. L. Ali vs Ann Wolfe would have been a very good one.
Beleive me, girls can box. I have some in the gym and some of them are VERY good. Yes, Ann Wolfe. I remember her knocking some other girl out with a great punch. One of the best knockouts I ever seen. All the best The predator
