"I respect Danny and won a heap on him - at 82/1 - when he knocked out Roy Jones Jr"

Just reading Daily Telegraph, Seems Jeff Fenech Bet some money on Danny to KO Jones in the First Round?

For me personally This makes me Wonder, Who in there right mind would Bet Money for that result, Unless they knew something we didn't. (Just my opinion)

    I Wonder what you think

I was told it was fixed but with the hand wraps letter & RJJ not being paid it has me thinking that it was all a smoke screen and the fix was the loaded hands with illegal wraps!

It's certainly a bet I wouldn't place, however from memory a poster here won a small fortune on the very same bet, so perhaps not as unusual as we may think.

Yes, But Because of the Connections Jeff has, its abit more complex then that,

he Says He won good Money, Im not a betting man, So How much Do you think He put on it? To Be considered "a Heap" of money.

Only two things of any substance there IMO Rooster:

1/ The Daily Telegraph trying to spin up a story on a slow news day.
2/ Fenech helping sell the Briggs v Green fight.

(keep up the great video work too mate - would love to see a Jeff Harding feature)

Well, the odds on a first round KO would have been pretty spectacular, so even a moderate amount of money bet could win 'heaps'.
I see your point anyway, I don't really have an opinion either way, but just pointing out that the bet may not be as unusual as first thought.

How is saying he bet money on Green going to sell Green v Briggs? Besides, that wasn't the focus of the Story, i just pointed it out, he didnt go into detail about it. Perhaps your right that talking about Green will help sell the fight, But i cant see why bring up his bet would do anything. IMO

    Agreed Sox.

Roy was a firm favourite going in, and the odds on a Green 1st round win would have been huge!

Lillie & Marsh took huge odds on a long-shot years ago that came in, and no fix was ever proven, nor even evident.

I Agree, But since there are So Much BS surrounding this Fight,

    The Punch
    The Gloves
    The Wraps
    Delays
    etc etc

This Bet just seems to add More Questions.

Maybe Rooster. But I went and watched Roy train at Star City. Saw the pre-match press conferences. Saw the fight. Saw the replay a number of times. Read the after-match wash-up, and like most, I'm so over it.

Green TKO1 Jones is only another entry in boxing history now IMO.

$100 at those odds would net you $8200. That could be considered a heap of money.

Of course, there is the possibility that Fenech is bullshitting...

I think most are over it, but I see Roosters point, even though as I said I don't really have much of an opinion on it now.

I do remember walking out of the pub on the night though, and it reeked of fix to me.
Next day after seeing the replay, reading lot's of differing views and so on, my mind had mostly changed, mostly......

Yeh, for that tiny outlay, the profit would be a heap of money to anyone.
    That too.
