I'm currently watching the HBO documentary Thrilla in Manila. Pacheco just comes across as a real piece of **** and a condescending *****. I don't have much respect for him at all.
Not a fan. He said he left Ali's camp when no one would listen to him that Ali shouldn't have been fighting. He also apparently did good charity work, so kudos to him if those things are true. But he comes across as such a smug *******. I remember also reading The Ring a few years ago where they reviewed his autobio. It said that Pacheco actually claimed that boxing became more humane as a result of HIM.
He's been mention in a few threads on the Classic forum and I think I had some colourful enough insults for him, there. I'm also not a fan, brah. I like to think when I'm being serious that I'm pretty fair about people, but he's one of the ones that I really never did like.
An Ali asskisser And an opinionated ***** ! Never liked listening to him . very biased towards his favorites ! Also bad mouthed the great Joe Frazier in an interview I saw! Frazier was ten times the man and human bieng ******* freddy ever was ! Even went as far as to say that Joe was stupid ! **** pacheco !
Yeah, respect to him there. He's gotta have a good side to him, I guess. Damn, can't say I'm all that surprised though. You can tell he has a rather high opinion of himself. I've read some stuff regarding his commentary where people said he routinely talked down about fighters and made derogatory comments on the regular, even going so far as to ask condescending questions to fighters during the post-fight interviews. Wonder if there's any truth to that or if you or any other posters can shed some light on his commentating?
It generally takes a lot to get me upset watching something on television, but when he said the gorilla doll looked like Frazier and then called him dumb...man, that just pissed me off. A guy on the sidelines disrespecting a man who gave his guy the toughest fights of his life and who literally put his life on the line to that extent is downright pathetic. Says a lot about Pacheco IMO.
****ing couldn't stand him. Some of the other announcers are incompetent or annoying, but Pacheco is one of the most arrogant dickbags ever to have a mic. He obviously didn't know the reality of the situation, but he uttered the infamous "He ran out of heart" comment when McClellan took a knee against Benn.
That documentary made me angry too. Two fold opinion on him 1. Arsehole, ignorant and stupid. 2. He did walk away from Ali when he could of stayed and made a lot more money, so he redeems him self a touch there.
Patronizing mother****er and saying those things about Frazier! Joe doesnt deserve this smug ******* pontificating like a know it all disrespecting *******.
