Fernando Daniel Martínez born July 18, 1991 is a 5'3 Super Flyweight with a 14-0 8 KO's record. Born in and fighting out of Avellaneda, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Back in late 2019 I was doing research on a WBC Silver Super Flyweight title match to be held in South Africa, with their long time titleist Athenkosi Dumezweni who was coming off of a career best performance, outpointing teak tough Filipino Jonas Sultan, the last man with a victory over Johnriel Casimero. South Africa has a bit of a reputation for being a hotbed of dodgy scoring, so when going with the underdog, you always have to take that into consideration. Well, I decided to give a look to his upcoming opponent Fernando Daniel Martínez, to assess his chances at pulling an upset.. Well, after watching about a minute of El Pumita, I was convinced beyond a shadow if a doubt that the judges services won't be needed in this one. I instantly fell madly in love with his unrelenting uncompromising style, and that he wouldn't give Dumezweni even a second to rest. And as I predicted, Fernando mauled the living hell out of the South African dropping him 3 times, en route to an 11th round stoppage victory. It was very clear to see that this undiscovered beast of a talent was operating on a level far higher than people were aware of. The relentless pressure, the head movement, the angles, the footwork, the rock solid chin, the non stop barrage of punches, were all next level. Oddly enough he kind of reminded me of his fellow Argentine juggernaut Brian Carlos Castano, who I'm also a huge fan of. So without hesitation when his match against Jerwin Ancajas was announced, I backed him to pull off the upset. Jerwin always struggles with guys like Martinez, but most of them only had about a third of his natural talent. So his goose was cooked from the outset, he never had a chance. The rugged mean little marauding war machine is a nightmare for pretty much anyone who steps in the ring with him, and won't be an easy out for anyone, even in this hot division. Add to that, his interesting choice in hair colors and styles, his very likeable easy to root for personality and his all action style, he's got fan favorite written all over him. So Check Out Maidana's machine gunner in action.:ggg:ggg:ggg:ggg

Yep the dude is a total beast. The way he swiftly moves in and out plus his obvious brutal power will make him a handful for everyone in the division. Shame for Ancajas since if he won, he would have fought Ioka next.

Martinez really should push for a match against Ioka. Poor Kazuto is ripe for the picking. As fragile as he's looked lately, I doubt he'd make it past the 6th round with Fernando.

I enjoyed his balance and short punches.

    Nothing looping.

Damn you called it 2 years back.
Really thought Ioka still had enough in the tank to tame Martinez but he’s just too relentless. Martinez has now beaten 2 world champs Ancajas and Ioka.

Would like to see him face Bam at some point. That would be fireworks.

Martinez is negotiating to rematch Ioka on New Years Eve in Japan.

I really hope that doesn’t happen. Ioka has a knack for doing well in rematches but he looked very old in their first fight. I’d be more interested in Ioka fighting Estrada and Martinez fighting Bam

Why? He beat him clear and he's the one looking to rematch?

Japan pays well to smaller fighters.

Id rather he pursue a super fight with Bam.
