    Round 3

Echenique given a count at the very beginning of the round, before he and Fredes had even had a change to engage in center ring. Very bizarre. Did the ref determine he was too long departing his corner to answer the bell? I've never seen that before. Anyway, time in. Echenique throwing his wild body uppercut combos transitioning into hooks and overhands up top. Fredes is pumping counters down the middle, bisecting the fatter punches of the increasingly wild Echenique. Fredes is getting there first despite his slower hands by carefully placing his lead right uppercuts (while torquing his body inward) followed by left hooks on the cheek. Would've been Fredes' round anyway despite the weird referee involvement.

    10-8 Fredes

    28-28

Kind of stinks this was demoted, it deserves 10 rounds.

    Round 4

Echenique is getting stung with the jab at mid-range, whether he is standing pat, throwing his own jab, or sidestepping. Echenique tries backing off, and Fredes pursues with a right clopped against the side of Echenique's neck. Messy brawling inside, faces rubbing together. Echenique is pressing Fredes into the ropes, hitting lots of glove. Fredes gives a shake of the head to show Echenique hadn't gotten to him despite the swell of excitement from the crowd. Fredes pushes Echenique across the ring now, popping the jab in his face and busier with the back-slaps that predominantly comprise their mutual inside work.

    10-9 Fredes

    38-37 Fredes

Commentators gave the 4th to Fredes 10-9.5 and now have it 40-36.5 Fredes.

They've not given Echenique a full integer round yet.

    Round 5

Echenique is fishing with the jab, casting his rod out in an incline and then angling down into Fredes' mug, but Fredes is simply eyeballing the punches to scout them, leaning to either side and pumping straights at Echenique. Not a lot of guile to what Fredes is doing, but enough to hit more than he is getting hit. Echenique tires and is put on the backfoot with Fredes applying pressure.

    10-9 Fredes

    48-46 Fredes

    Round 6

Echenique is throwing 1-2's past Fredes' head and falling into his embrace, languishing there a moment to rest until the ref calls break. Fredes is allowing Echenique to ensnare himself jumping in, not dissuading the clinches, but also firing plenty of uppercuts as Echenique is on the way in, tagging him before and during the clinching process. Echenique only has energy to spare for a few stabs on the way in before their chests slam together and Fredes' arms encircle his waist. Nice left hook by Echenique before the bell, hurting Fredes as he is already wobbling away from an overhand right.

    10-9 Echenique, close

    57-56 Fredes

Commentators give the 6th to Fredes 10-9.5, but had given Echenique the 5th 10-9.

Commentators are in disbelief. They only gave Echenique one round. (but three of the ones they gave Fredes were of the close "half-point" variety..)

Plus, the ref clearly gave Echenique a count at one point (though it made absolutely no sense why) - so I'm not sure how one judge could award him 59.5 points? :huh

Actually even the 58.5 score would seem to have neglected the ref's count on Echenique.
