Perez is getting comfortable popping his right jab and whipping overhand lefts at Montiel. Perez walks him to the ropes and starts to attack more wildly, still setting up with his right jab but just windmilling with the left and missing badly as Montiel jumps off to the side. Montiel looks tight and compact, keeping his guard up high but not throwing much back. Perez is warned for leading recklessly with his head. More wild overhand lefts from Perez. Montiel is sliding back a few steps at a time, drawing Perez in before blasting him with a quick 1-2 to the body. Very little output from Montiel. Big right hand gets ducked by Perez. Montiel flurries a bit toward the end of the round, but it isn't the deal-sealer his last five seconds of the first were...and he gets smacked with a right hook.

Much too little work there for Montiel to get it.

Round 3

Montiel parries some right jabs, and hops to his right. Big right hand to the body by Montiel, barely dodged by Perez. Montiel takes a lunging right jab to the face, but bends over backward to get clear of the kinky left cross behind it. Montiel throws a 1-2 and Perez tries to loop over it, getting a bit too close as his predatory instincts take over and HE THEN BECOMES THE PREY! DAMN! Counter left hook. One shot knockout.

No count was even needed.

 

Barrera looks huge next to Montiel (interviewing him, btw - oh, to know more Spanish...)
