I think it's a unifaction of Montiels WBO belt and Hasegawa's WBC belt, it looks to be a pretty intriguing match up. I'll be the first to admit I don't know much about Hasegawa's style, but I've looked at his record and despite having two defeats (at the very start of his career) He's racked up some pretty impressive wins. His last 5 fights were against solid B level contenders and he's knocked all 5 out in the first 5 rounds. Whilst he's also had 10 defences of the WBC belt, comfortably beating whatever is put infront of him including some pretty decent fighters. Surely a win over Montiel or a win for Montiel could put either guy on the fringes of P4P status, considering both guys have very good records. What I don't understand is why hasn't this fight been talked about? two fighters with great records who both hold belts fighting each other for supremacy in their weight division. Fights like this should be getting more publicity instead of fights like Hopkins VS Jones Jnr, which was like watching two old men hit each other in the nuts, with one being slighly faster and less disabled than the other. Thoughts on the outcome of this fight anyone?
They don't get a lot of coverage because they are little men. But I am looking forward to it, the bad thing is that the fight is on a Friday in Japan. Thats in the morning for most of us in the Americas.
Hozumi by KO. He's a lethal Southpaw boxer-puncher with deadly accuracy, fantastic footwork, and good power. My boy.
It's in Japan(who's boxing federation don't recognise the WBO) so it will only be for the WBC. Two fantastic fighters in a great fight, I think Montiel may be a little past his best and will struggle with a fantastic fighter who is right in his prime. Hasagawa late tko in a fantastic fight is my prediction.
