Fernando Montiel vs. Victor Terrazas

Round 9

Several jabs by Terrazas, targeting the eyes of Montiel. Vicious! HUGE left hook by Terrazas, slapped over the top of Montiel's gloves and slamming into his face! Triple jab by Terrazas backs Montiel up, and he digs a right to the stomach. Montiel has his hands up and is catching Terrazas' jabs but not daring to open up by throwing anything back. Terrazas has him running scared. Montiel's mouth is open.

I think they have open scoring, and just read the scores in Spanish.

Terrazas comes forward and drills Montiel with right hands. Montiel backs up and tries to shield his face. Now some head movement, bobbing his face around Terrazas's left glove as the jab snaps out toward him. Montiel now throws a straight combo before backing up. Another combo, a longer one! Chopping away with lefts and rights, Montiel coming alive! Terrazas backs him off with the jab. BIG RIGHT HAND by Terrazas lunging in, backs Montiel up.

Yeah, the open scoring through 8 (announced during the 9th) was in the 73-78, 72-79 range.

Probably for Terrazas.

Not looking good for Kochulito.

 

Round 10

Terrazas plugs a body shot on the way into a clinch as he advances in a crouch and Montiel just walks into him while holding himself up straight. Montiel waves to the crowd with his right glove over Terrazas' head during the clinch, as if to say he's OK and going to try and get back in this. Montiel hooks the body. Terrazas lands stiff jabs to the face, still zeroing in on those red and puffy ruins of Montiel's eyes. Clinch. Terrazas jabs the body. Montiel is backed up almost to a corner and chops a right into Terrazas' face. Clinch, and Terrazas shoves Montiel across the ring and into the ropes. Montiel tries to infight but has his arms knotted up with Terrazas'. Slaps to the back by Montiel. The ref gets between them. Low blow by Montiel. Terrazas winces and turns his back, and walks across the ring. Montiel goes over to touch gloves. Time in. Leaping hook by Montiel. Fast exchanges, both darting in and out!

Round 11

Montiel launches out some left and right hooks trying to meet Terrazas halfway. Hard straight right to the mangled face by Terrazas! Montiel has to get moving. Terrazas chases with the jab. Montiel is running, springing traps as he lays by the ropes and then springs forward with lead rights. Terrazas hacks at the body on his way in to dupe Montiel and get him looking down, then tags him with a big right hand to the head! Montiel ties up and pushes Terrazas back to get off the ropes. Jabs to the facial carnage and body by Terrazas. Montiel is circling in close, trying to preemptively swat at Terrazas with chopping jabs and rights. Terrazas shoves him back toward the ropes and lines up straight rights behind his jab. They both slap out with hooks to the body, with Terrazas ducking low.
