Im the same. Not a big fan, but boxing is losing a true charismatic character. Best of luck to him in his future career.
I hear you. Retiring at the advanced age of 29 with nothing more than a few measly millions to live on. So sad, its tragic.:|
Come on fella. Its deeper than money in the bank. Vargas fought with his heart on his sleeve & was a true warrior until the end. He was also a fan favourite, & it would have been sweeter if he went out on a high, the guy is speaking as a fan of the sport, not a cynic who just thinks of the money they earn. Remember, guys like Vargas deserve every penny they earn, cos they are putting their lives on the line with the way they fight to entertain their fans. To say, he walks away with millions like its been a walk in the park is taking away from a true warrior of the sport of boxing.
Fernando was one of my favs sad to see him leave on this note cause hes 10 times the fighter Mayorga is at his best. From about 98-02 man what a joy to watch he could do almost anything in a boxing ring and took on all comers beating the best and losing to the best.
i was never a fan of the guy, hated him sometime, and did'nt like his thug attitude. but i give him my repect for showing balls in all his fights win or lose. the punishment tito doled out on him, and him still getting up after every KD was probably one of the courageuos displays i've seen in a boxing ring. hope he enjoys retirement, and manages his money wisely.
That macho fassad was backed by the punk he really is. When he couldn't win a fight on the street, he got his little gang to beat up on people. I liked him inside the ring, only when he was fighting. That ****ing ******ed face he used to make all the time is reminiscant of what guido's are doing today, only difference is Fernando meant to look tough, not pretty, and he didn't wear lip gloss. Good riddance.
Why is that? He was born in this country, trained in boxing in this country, and enjoyed the benefits of fighting in this country. Not to mention his fluent English probably helped him in this career. If he was born in Mexico and raised in Mexico I would understand.
Absolutely well said Dunky! Vargas is absolutely one of those fighters who truely cared for the entertainment of his fans! With the way Vargas fought with his heart and soul, you knew it was'nt just about money with him! I mentioned in a different thread that when Vargas was saying goodbye and thanking his fans for the last time......in his eyes I saw contentment. Even in defeat tonight, I saw a a man still full of pride, knowing that he left it all in the ring! Absolutely thats what I call a WARRIOR!!!!:deal Thanks for all the great fights Feroz!!!:happy
come on man.. i bet both his parents were born in mex, making him a full-blooded mexican regardless where he was born and raised..
I wish the best to Fernando Vargas and the worst to his promoters. How can you throw a 21 years old kid to fight a guy like Tito Trinidad ? That cost Fernando's career. A shot fighter at the age of 21.
