You're totally right that it depends on how we look at it. I personally think it's a bit selfish to put what Vargas (and many people) see as "honor" for himself and boxing fans over his well being and his family. I would be lying if I did not say I didn't have a world of respect and admiration for the heart and courage Vargas showed in the ring during his career. But to use that and put someone down because they chose not to take the same risks he did is pretty silly from my perspective. Would you really put your pride, honor and boxing fans before the people who are really the closest to you and that no matter what happens in the ring (being almost killed or quitting) will still be the ones that love you the most? I know I wouldn't, but if you do, more power to you my friend and if you don't maybe that's part of why you (and I) find it so impressive and even touching when boxers do. But I just think prioritizing is very important in everybodies lives and I know I wouldn't give my life for people who would call me a quitter whenever I say I've had enough in a fight.

No he's not, he's remembered for being stupidly dominant at 135lbs, and then moving up to 147lbs and beating the second best Welterweight of all time in his prime..and not by running and pot-shotting, by beating him up physically. It's interesting he brought it up actually, Duran would go on to make history - proving that once you quit, that doesn't spell the end for a top flight fighter.

As for Cotto, I don't think he is one dimensional. He saw he could fight off the counter against Mosley, neutralizing his speed with movement and a good jab. Now, Cotto may quit again, as Vargas says, once you do it the first time the second is much easier. Do I think he will? I envision a Cotto victory, so absolutely.
