meh. you don't have to get fat as you age. it's all about eating right, proportions, and exercise.

a trend I see with boxers who were destined for ATG status but never really achieved it is that they get drastically fat in a short time. Like Naseem Hamed, Ricky Hatton & Fernando Vargas.

Marvin Hagler is still in great shape and he has nothing to do with boxing anymore. It's no suprise guys like Vargas and Hatton, even Duran ballon up in retirement, to them training was chore they had to do, but someone like Hagler it's self-fullfilling.

well, you know what? show me a fit skinny mexican at 40 years of age who ain't boxing..

how old are you? your body naturally slows down. let him eat all the burritos he wants. He's earned that right to retire and not be on a strict regimine.

Vargas is not even 34 yet. He's younger than Mayweather.

You don't always get overweight as you age, But it is easier. For example look at Holyfield. Almost 50. Great shape.

Enjoying retirement I see ..Good for him ..For most of his life he had to be in shape.Eventually you want to just eat what you want and do what you want, as long as it doesn't affect his long term health they could do what they want .They know what they need to do to get back into shape ..

No, no, that's a shot of Chris Arreola. Vargas is trim and ready to go. Seriously.
