Why should we be surprised that a fighter who had trouble with weight in his prime would gain substantial weight in retirement? Plus, isn't he a guy who loves his beer?

This has been in the 'works' for a long time now, and before Camacho JR got destroyed by David, it was looking like it would be Camacho vs Vargas at light heavy or so. In fact, it still might happen. I actually think Vargas was looking decent at the Margarito fight, if thats how hes looking before a fight is even signed, I think he could wind up fighting at 168 after this comeback fight.

This is of course horrible, and I wish it wasnt happening, I had been calling for his retirement since the Castillejo fight, and this is just bad, bad news that hes going to be coming back :-(

That being said, as long as he keeps it at D level fighters.... whatever I guess. I pray to god the man doesnt step up to anyone above C class :-(

Also, this isnt just be done because the man doesnt know how to quit, the manager he was with for over a decade, and who he thought of as, and treated as, family, robbed him of millions. And when I mean 'robbed', I dont mean that he just mismanaged Vargas's accounts, he straight up cleared Vargas's accounts out, had Vargas sign checks to him that he would wind up cashing on himself, ect, ect, to the point where he was arrested.

So Vargas is on the comeback trail to mostly make up for that....

Anyways, it is what it is, and I am not thrilled in the slightest. But, I will always be in his corner and we will see what happens. Hope he seriously keeps it at a low, low level though, and just kinda does some easy fights in LA, Texas, and Chicago, hes got solid fan bases there. Vargas vs Camacho JR should do alright for a low level fight, that should be his last fight of a 3 or 4 fight comeback....

    I know the scoop...

He is an absolute fool with his money. His "investments" are losers, he spent money like water living the high life. He's real close to bankruptcy now. He is pursuing a suit against his mother to evict her from a house he bought for her. He is now living in Las vegas.

Regardless of his manager's indiscretions, Fernando is an idiot with no common sense and *if* his manager took any money, it should be shame on him for being a fool.

I know of another business fernando owns, he has yet to attend a single management meeting in 3 years.

He's a loser and get what he deserves... when he lived around here, nobody liked him because he was an arrogant jackass.
