Lemieux is unproven but we all know he can punch,, Vargas hasnt been used to getting hit like that in a long time and even then his chin wasnt that good (not bad either like some think) at this point id stay away from Lemieux.

Your right about him matching well with Kirkland but thats a prime version.. YOung Tiger kirkland is too young to relentles and to everything for the Old Tiger at this stage. Prime Vargas schools him and outmachos him but the current Vargas takes a beating and is kod.

He needs a year alone just to cut to down to SMW. Guy could fight in the Olympic Superheavyweight division.

That is interesting in sad way.:think

They have similaritys in their stories. Both had several Hard Fights where they evidently left something of themselfes in the ring after each Fight.

There is a myth JCC was the one who ruined Taylor but IMO that's not the whole Truth. It was result of several Fights where he took unnecessary punishment which he didnt need to.

All in all they both took damage but it was easier to see the neurological problems from Taylor. Sad to watch but the guy just kept Fighting.

It was the first Chavez fight... Meldrick was never the same he beat Aaron Davis and had a couple title defenses but was not the same Mel who almost beat Chavez and dominated Mcgirt... It was the Chavez fight where he started to decline (at only 23) Then Norris,Espana Chavez II made it worse.

the oscar fight was an alltimer alright.

I just cant see El Feroz being anyhting again , especially with all that weight he'll have to lose.

This is pretty much how I feel on the situation, regarding Vargas' return.
