That fight wouldn't have ruined Vargas if Tito didn't put a time-out to the fight. That was a ***** move my Tito, clocking Vargas in the nuts when he was in big trouble. I wonder why he didn't do that to Hopkins.

it was a cheap shot but its normal for puerto rican fighters and mexicans too to use it as a time out.

but dont call it a '*****' move because if you were in that situation and could get away with it then you would do it too.

against hopkins i dont think tito had too much time to think about it tbh.

hopkins may have been the bigger man but his performance that night was poetry.

Yea I guess you are right I would probably do the same thing. It's just not clean from a professional point.

i agree but footballers are allowed to fake falling over and sometimes get penalties for it that win the match when replays show everyone what really happened.

    it's the same thing.

if its allowed to happen sportsmen will exploit it.

i hate it every time i see someone who's allowed to get away with something like this and it's a condemnation of the people who regulate sports.

Lets take a step back from all this sentimental nostalgia.....Vargas is no
    legend.
    Didn't Oscar beat him?
Correct me if I'm wrong ( I have been wrong before ) didn't Mosley beat him?

I don't believe that Vargas had much of a defense.

cotto doesnt have a defence either..neither does oscar or margarito....

some fighters need a granite chin to make that final move.

but don't forget that oscar and tito - at the weight vargas fought them - were truly destructive fighters with genuine KO power.

vargas had willpower and fortitude up with the best of them.

it's not "nostalgic" to suggest otherwise.

vargas was a dangerous and driven fighter in his time.

Vargas was always at 154 outside of 1 or 2 of his very first fights.
    Cotto was at 140-147.

We have never seen Cotto at 154 so we would just have to guess at how he would do. I think he is the more skilled guy and the better boxer, but Vargas is a lot bigger than him and if they get into exchanges, I think a bigger prime vargas before the back problems likely would come out on top.

Vargas, guy was very strong at welter and junior middle and he knew how to box on both inside and outside.

I think Cotto beats Vargas, he is the better boxer and he is more disciplined than Vargas.
