Sounds punchy to me, then again a lot of that could be due to his extra weight. James Toney sounds a lot like this when he's fat in between fights. I'm thinking it's a bit of both, the extra weight combined with being punch drunk.

way to many punches... he got out right when he had to ... truth is there are probably doctors keeping him away from the sport right now ..not so much personal decisions

He sounded fine to me. I understood every word he said.

What I did notice was him wiping his forehead, and breathing heavy.....
......I'd say he's a good 100 lbs above his prime fighting weight in that interview, so he certainly is not going to sound the same carrying that type of weight.

A smile came to my face, when the interviewer questioned him about a comeback, to which Vargas said, "I'm never coming back!":good

He sounded good to me. Leave the dude alone. He was a warrior and he deserves respect.

Exactly......a fighter like Vargas who loves the sport may even frequent these types of boards......he certainly does'nt deserve to hear this type of crap from us.

The man is happy to be promoting, and as boxing fans we should be happy for him.

    He sounds fine to me.

An as far asJames Tney i concered, Toney has been hard to understand ever since he gained weight, not because hes punchy.

Jokes aside how long have you been watching boxing? Are you not familiar with Vargas`s career? It mirrors David Reids except Reids was ALOT shorter. Theres 2 problems here. Vargas did take alot of beatings throughout his career mainly due to his arrogance and "macho Mexican" style. But in between fights he had no discipline and routinely blew up to well over 250lbs. Thats crazy for a guy who once fought at 47. Vargas is obese and im pretty sure his days as a boxer haven't helped. Either way its impossible for anyone to say definitively unless your his Doctor. I wouldnt be surprised if he was punchy but the weight also surely doesnt help.

Doesn't sound too bad, when a guy's fat with a double chin it does seem to affect his speech a bit.
Don't agree with saying he didn't get too many beatings, he took a lot of shots due to his style. DLH and Trinidad alone ****ed him up badly.

He's not slurring his words, I reckon he's on some kind of drug. Nowhere near as bad as Toney.
