Fernando Vargas .Vs. Antonio Margarito

You guys are either really over rating Margarito or really under rating Vargas. It's funny how one big win can do that. Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying that Margarito is a bum or that Vargas would walk right through him, but Prime Vargas has a size, power, speed, and skill advantage over Margarito. Those of you that think that Vargas can't handle pressure shoudl go watch the Quartey fight. Quartey pressured Vargas throughout the whole fight and Vargas fought well moving backwards and countering.

Unlike Cotto, Vargas would work Margarito's body and wear him down and score either a late stoppage or a UD.

 

Except for the Mexicans with Margarito's nuts in their faces, its clear as daylight that at 154lbs Fernando Vargas would be too much for Antonio Margarito.

Antonio couldn't even handle Daniel Santos, a shadow of a fighter that Vargas was

 

I'm pleased to see that SOME people on this forum have sense, and recognize that Vargas would win this matchup.

Margarito is becoming VERY overrated!

 

do you honestly think Vargas punched 'slightly' harder than Cotto? Even though I believe unless you're Tommy Hearns, punching power is irrelevant against Margarito, Vargas is clearly a more powerful puncher than Cotto. Though they have the same type of power, which breaks fighters down through accumulation.

I have always thought even in Nandos prime that his chin was suspect, Ike buzzed him, Clark Buzzed him and Winky Buzzed him and this was before the fight with Tito.
IMO Margarito hits hard pretty close to the same power that Tito has, and with his work rate and chin and his body assault even prior to his fight with Trinidad, Vargas would not have beat Margarito even at 154

 

Prime Vargas gets a clear decision and might have Margarito hurt at some point during the fight.

I didnt say he had the same but pretty close and it has shown in fights, Johnson, Gomez, Lewis to name a few.
Tito is a Kayo artist but he was also a big guy fighting smaller guys as well:deal

No, its not even pretty close. Tito was by FAR a bigger puncher. That is all.

 

you dont have to be a big puncher to put Nando on his ass, Rivera had the man on his face with a right hand, and Vargas is lucky he beat the count the man was out.
Margarito has more power than Rivera, but of course your going to say well that was a product of what Tito did to him.
get real man Tito was Nandos real first step up and he failed there, he failed against all the top jr middles even Winky IMO.
