Yea I remember weak ass Rivera had Vargas sprawled out and Rivera does not punch half as hard as Margarito

If Margarito drops Vargas Vargas doesnt last the next round

So you are basing your assesment of Vargas's chin on 1 punch in the fight immidiatly after his first KO loss in which he ate about 300 clean hard shots from Tito?

Prime Vargas was just great to watch, unfortunately it didn't last for long but a great fighter.

This fight would be a great war, I would go for a close decision to Vargas.

No I am basing his chin off the way he reacted to punches by Ike Quartey, Winky Wright (who is not a puncher) Howard Clark and a few others you have to remember Vargas only had 19 fights going in with Tito of which Vargas shown in those fights to be stunned rather easily.
Tito just exposed that chin he knew going in that Vargas didnt have a good chin the proof is in those fights and those fights are prior to Tito.
The Rivera fight, I will agree that was after Tito, However Rivera is a blown up Jr welter weight and he laid Vargas out with one single right hand, and Honestly Vargas is lucky they didnt stop it becuase they had every right to at that point.

Vargas is likely stronger than Cotto but Cotto has a much more developed offensive than Vargas ever had. Upstairs and downstairs, slick counterpunching and on the switch. Just all around superior.

For that reason Cotto is gonna catch Margarito cleaner than Vargas would. Vargas didn't really have a strong inside game to take advantage of Margarito walking in. He had that right hand. And if that right hand wasn't getting it done then he was in some trouble. He would be in trouble because Margarito doesn't take breaks. He fights the whole 10-12 rounds. Vargas wouldn't like that pressure no different than Cotto did. Only difference is Cotto is alot slicker and alot more gifted offensively.

As far as when it ends I don't know. But I feel pretty comfortable picking Margarito. Vargas simply would not be able to keep Margarito off of him.

Margarito does NOT hit as hard as Trinidad.

I think Vargas wins a tough decision.

Vargas is not likely to be coming forward on Rivera like that, and hit with such a well-timed and well-placed shot as he's coming forward.

Margarito would be the only coming forward applying the pressure, and Vargas the one boxing, moving laterally/backfoot, and using the ring.

Now Margarito would **** his fat ass.

Back pre Trinidad and De la Hoya i would have said Fernando could have broken Margo down in the manner he did Yory Boy.

Tito had to become Cheato to beat a prime Vargas, and Tito absolutely destroys Marg imho.

Vargas by UD, in a fight in which Marg gets the **** kicked out of him but won't go down.

anyone feel vargas wasnt as good as he was labeled. he was very clumsy and had decent but not world class technique. he couldnt box and didnt have a major punch, little defence and if he was hit he could stumble.

but aggression. **** aggression is all he had and he used it well.

but the last thing you want is to run into margo. margo will engulf you..thats sounds like im overatign him but the only way you can truly win is to outbox him and make him chase you which cotto was doing....vargas doesnt have that dimension to box and move...thus my feelign are that a margo tko

This is an awful assessment of a young Fernando Vargas.
