    Vs
    Andrade
    Lara
    Charlo
    Lubin
    Trout
    Hurd

Do you think Vargas could excel against these current 154lbs?

I think Vargas would beat most if not all.

Vargas beats all. That era of boxing, in that weight class, was insane that Vargas fought in. And in his prime, Vargas was a beast

Vargas was damn near flawless until he ran into Winky Wright (and even though
I thought he lost, it was close, even after that
he was phenomenal until he ran into a bonafide ATG in Tito and fought tooth
and nail with him until the last round.

No knock on any of the guys at JMW currently but none of them would have come out
undefeated if you matched them with Vargas' resume. Not one.

You'd have to make Vargas a favourite over all of them. The version that fought Tito would beat all of them imo.

He was a really well-rounded fighter for his age. Tito, injuries and his weight all ensured his prime was far too short.

I'd love to watch the beating Vargas would put on Charlo and Andrade.

Do people legitimately think Vargas was on another level, is it at least admitably in part due to nostalgia? Not playing coy, wondering if people actually think we're experiencing a real talent drought at the moment.

How do you feel like he'd match-up with Thomas Hearns, Ray Leonard, or Mike McCallum?

Vargas was good no doubt. But he is being extremely overrated here. Admittely I've only watched 3 Vargas fights, DLH, Winky(to see if it was a robbery), and Tito. He's also wayyyyyyyy smaller than this eras LMW.

Based off what though? Who did he beat or what performance(s) convinced you of this?

He was out performed at his ideal weight by multiple opponents. I don't see how a guy can come up short in his own time several times but somehow be among the all time elite?

I think we're in a bit of a drought and, for a couple of years, Vargas was an excellent fighter. He could box, was physically strong and he had real power.

Now, he's not an ATG or anything but the Vargas who beat Ike Quartey, fought Winky on even terms and was ruined by Tito would be a favourite over the crop we have just now.

There's no way he could fight them all and win every time. He would be in the mix.
