Depends which Vargas, on form i'd rate him better than that bunch, but he has a hard time with a couple, ive seen performances where he could lose to all mentioned. On form though I rate him better !
Hurd/Lubin/Williams/Munguia/Brook would get stopped. Vargas likely UD/SD Charlo/Lara/Harrison Vargas-Margarito would've been another legendary fight. Vargas-Trinidad took so much from Vargas
Vargas would have had a lot of trouble stopping Brook because Kell could even take a solid middleweight shot off GGG who punches far harder than Vargas did also Javier couldn`t have taken the shots that Brook took from GGG, Vargas would land the jab whenever he threw it though because Brook cannot evade jabs.
Pre Hoya Vargas is, imo, a level above them all and would likely beat all of them, imo. I do think Williams gives him trouble though. Thats a good fight, one I favor Vargas to win by competitive decision.
Vargas was an elite welter when the welterweight division was one of the strongest of all time . He beats all of them . Lara and Williams would go the distance .
Vargas comes from an era where fighters were more complete imo, boxed better, were well rounded fighters. He also competed in an era that had many legendary fighters fighting. He beat top fighters like Quartey and Wright that imo would also beat all if not most JrMWs today.
Vargas was no monster but he’d do pretty well in today’s 154 division. He’d take apart Munguia 100% of the time. Apart from that, he’d win a few more than he’d lose. He wasn’t dominant enough to get through a line-up like current 154 undefeated.
That's was one of the most relentless and exhausting beatdowns I've ever seen. It reminded me of the way Arguello just slowly dissected and gave a merciless beating to Mancini. And also the way Pryor eventually was just too much for Arguello himself. Seems like in about half these types of fights the loser is never the same.
I dont see any name in this list even close to trinidad. Vargas wins to all of them. It took prime trinidad to win vargas, and prime de la hoya too. I dont know who do you guys think that vargas was, but he was a hell of a fighter in his prime. Brook? vargas shits all over Brook, all over brook and all over this list. Every name in this list would die in a fight vs prime trinidad, btw.
Rating Vargas quite high? I still remember when Fishnets crushed the roided to hell Vargas. That was such a big moment for Fishnets. And Vargas really hated Fishnets back then iirc.
