School me on the guy. Hall of fame worthy? Where does he rank as an all time great at the Light Middleweight division?

    How do you remember him?

    Wasted potential?

Tell me what you think of him.

    Cheers

Put it this way, if the 98-00 Vargas was around today, he'd be near the top of the P4P list.

He would have beaten Canelo within an inch of that Ginger fraud's life.

    HOF'er

He just ran into the strongest force in the universe, Boricua Power or he wouldve still been ruling 154 lbs. today.

    LMAO! Talk about exaggeration.

Vargas never had the style to have a long prime. Tito ended his prime, but even without Tito, he was never the type who's prime was gonna last long.

Having said that, in his brief prime he was a very good fighter. Much better than the new, **** fighters of today.

  7. wasted potential. young vargas was very very good. they put him in the ring with trinidad when he wasn't ready and that ruined his career and his health. it's actually quite sad.

    seriously though
i can see how he could be considered a hall of famer. tito/oscar/nando where 'boxing' for a while.

thrown to the wolves young. the tito loss was just devastating his raw power and natural talent just couldnt get to him enough. 23 year old getting robbed of his talent.

    wel marketed, badly managed.

    Thats another misconception.

Vargas was VERY MUCH ready for the Tito fight. Ready enough that the vast majority of the media and boxing forums picked him to win.

Vargas displayed in the Quartey fight that he was ready for any fighter in the world.

He wasn't overwhelmed either, like Davey Moore was against Duran.

He simply got beat because Tito was more talented/better.

He was technically better than given credit for. solid names on the resume as well. He wasnt quite ready but gave a great showing of his self. If he wouldnt have got punched in the dick by tito it looked like he might pull it out. Idk if winkey quartey and castilejo are big enough to get him in the hall tho

I disagree. Vargas was more talented, better technically skilled than Tito.

Tito was more polished, more experienced by far, but Vargas was more naturally gifted and skilled imo.

Tito needed to CHEAT to get out of a bad situation against Vargas, not once, but thrice. Tito is a DEVESTATING puncher, and those uppercuts to Vargas balls took a toll in the later rounds.

Going into the 10th round, the fight was dead even, but Vargas couldn't use his footwork like he did from rounds 2-9.

  14. no. he needed more fights under his belt. he wasnt experienced enough to deal with trinidad's power. he shouldve only boxed against trinidad. he stood right in front of him. that was a mistake. he was boxing well, but against such a big puncher he should have been moving constanstly. i think he couldve outboxed trinidad.

  15. have u seen heard him speak? have u watched his fight against trinidad? that 12th round was one of the most brutal rounds i've ever watched. he suffered irreversible brain damage in that fight. he was never the same again.
