Will pass on to John the comments and thoughts etc . Gavin Rees yes be good fight but i sure he like a few defences of british we looking ahead not behind no disrespect to Gav if we Win a world title a defence against Gavin if he maintains his winning run would be a bigger fight . Rios or Soto thats our Goal providing they win there world title fights
Joe could you tell us about the fighters that you have in your gym now - especially the prospects coming through?
Joe Murray 9-0 coming along nice getting good sparring in with likes of Rendall and Gary Sykes as well as in house with Crolla . He still work in progress wont see best of him till he gets that Man Strength although he is strong now . Crolla - well if the saying a title improves a fighter then this is the case with anthony , he is coming on Brilliant . He has done something differant for all his last 6 fights and he can adapt very well and stick to a game plan . No Hesitation in him Fighting Sykes , Buckland etc. Foster and Burns too much for him at the Moment they both on another level. Mark Heffron a very talented boxer who can if handled right do for Oldham what Ricky did for Manchester . He can do bit everything but as Cus said u have to control the flame . He is only 18 and like every fighter that age has a youth . Macklin rates him as the best prospect in Britian . Burton Brothers . Hosea 2009 ABA Champ 2010 finalist has moved up in weight to light heavy and will stay amateur for a while yet he not ready for the pro game yet . Where as Zak junior ABA champ could turn earlier if opportunitys not open up for England he a very good prospect. Liam Cullen 3-0 only had 5 amateur contests doing well and learning his trade in the gym could be ready for titles 2012. Marcus Morrison NACYP Champ will turn pro in 2 years his style is more suited and will get people talking a very talented work in progress but ata age 17 where careful not to loose to mates, beer and women . stays focused through next 2 years got a big future.
I think Joe Murray is gonna be very good. He lacks a bit of pop in his punches but he is still only a kid. Excellent footwork and a good boxing brain for 1 so young.
Thanks for the reply Joe. I think Crolla has came on heaps since his fight with Sykes. Heffron may be the pick of the bunch - exciting prospect alright - I hope to see him in action in March:good
No i was never approached by Team Khan ! I have known Amir and his dad Shah for a long time and get on well with them . Amir has done very well since days of him fighting in Schoolboys and wish him well.
will do pal hence since that fight he has hit title form beating people who cant box . John wants to i want him to but like anything it takes time and politics , Gary Buckland is not a fighter to laugh at and your comment dis respecting him is not on he like every fighter who steps into the ring and put there life on the line is not to be laughed at , his performance in prize fighter shows what a good job John done with Gary at the time .
Benn involved in boxing since 10 boxed am at Wythenshawe under Jimmy Egan then as a senior at Moss side under Phil martin and was around the champs camp era watching and learning from Phil he ran pros i coached amateurs . The people who from that era who now coaching successful are Maurice Core Ensley Bingham Oliver Harrison Humphrey Harrison Joe Pennington Billy Graham.Manchester in good hands.
