Dont think its ever been about protecting the 0 with John . Early in his career he went and fought in Florida at Short notice and beat Johnny Walker who next out went 9 rds with demarco Corley . He took a call on Monday asking would he take a fight in Canada on the Saturday as herbie hide pulled out he beat Wiggins in the same roundd as Demitrius Hopkins did . One his best career performances was on undercard of delahoya v mayweather with a 7rd stoppage over lt welter Lorenzo Bethea a round quicker then new yorker prospect jorge luis Teron . So he has took jobs short notice against bigger men and got the wins !
I dont think the 0 is a big deal i dont get the feeling that he is protecting his unbeaten record the fights he is having atm are just keeping him ticking over i think he just want the opportunity to step up at lightweight get an eliminator but due to his promoter/sanctioning bodies he isnt getting those opportunities
Hopefully 2011 will see John win a few more fans over and show his talent at his best against World ranked opposition . Would like to thank everyone for the questions opinions and comments all taken on board John Murray never reads Websites so i will pass on all comments to him have a Happy new Year and hopefully Machine Murray can add another World title for the UK .
Like said earlier post i will take everything on board and pass onto John . Thanks for taking time to view and post .
If John's a free agent he needs to get with Top Rank. They've got a lot of the top lightweights and Arum is planning to make a lot of big fights in the division. Soto, Antillon, Rios, Acosta, Vazquez, David Diaz all with Bob and you know they like to keep things in-house.
It going to be tough getting the fights lightweight when Arum has that kind of monopoly even Warren could struggle
Never ever heard above phrases said from John . This john has fought no one in world top 20 case u keep plugging u are talking about days gone by when likes of Mcguigan fought Juan Laporte in eliminator etc .WORLD as u say whose WORLD as last i seen Scott Lawton is fighting Derry Mathews for a World title . How Many fighters today who fight for world titles have hard eliminators or against another ranked top 10- 20 fighter not saying this our argument but its usually a case of Promoters working closely with Governing Bodies and using there ranking systems . I can list u currant british fighters highly ranked in governing bodies and wanting world title fights and never beat anyone in top 10-20. Boxing is about opportunity that what makes the rocky story someones chance at a world title You cant tell me everyone who boxed for a world title last year had beaten a world top 20 fighter . We do want fight but the prize has got to be worth the risk thats why called prizefighters . John was involved in 2 scheduled WBC eliminators and no fault of his own sanchez got beat now rios is fighting acosta .
Hi Joe With regards to John he's still a developing fighter even though he's had 30 fights he still in development process although now looking to develop on world scene. My Question is what elements and parts of his skillset and his in ring displays are you looking to develop over the next year if any??.. And what Trainer would you love to pit your wits against?? from past or present, i could see the respect you had for Manny Steward when he was on your show with Barks on Monday On a sidenote been very impressed with your work with Crolla and Joe Murray looks a very promising talent.
Thanks i really looking forward to both Crolla and Joe breaking through this year both going to suprise a few although anthony did that with his morris win . Both Young and developing and joe been allowed to find his feet without glare of sky tv and is now ready for the exposure to go with his performances this coming year. John as u say is still learning and which ever opponent we get matched against that is when we set about disecting opponent and coming up with gameplan to win . John has to step up this year he needs the buzz fights the fear factor fights to bring best of him out .
