He beat two very good world class fighters with complete ease and made a solid, experienced ex champ (Sydorenko) look like a 4 round novice. I don't think the hype is just based around the Montiel win. Hopefully he can now get more big fights and justify it.

Thank you sir. Exactly my thoughts. Look, Donaire is clearly an excellent fighter, but ****ing hell, every time a fighter has a great performance this happens. It's happened for Martinez, JMM, etc but every time you bring it up you get told "this time is different, this guy is really special." We have a lot of big fights coming up, Nonito will more than likely left behind for whoever else comes up with a spectacular display.

He's definitely a great fighter, but people here tend to get carried away.

  7. When someone scores a highlight real KO for the ages, the boxing masses go nuts. The performance definitely justifies Donaire's p4p list presence, but its too quick to be talking about top 3 p4p and absolutely too quick to start talking ATG status. If he destroys a top name at 122 in that same fashion I'm on board 100% for all that talk. Right now he's just a really great fighter who is a pleasure to watch. Good likable kid with the right attitude... Good things are in his future if he stays focused.

That's just new to the sport Filipino fans......they are just like the Mexican fans, who are just like East Euro fans, and on and on and on.

Unfortunately forums are filled with them.

Yeah them too. Only one problem though. They don't really follow boxing all that much.

They are pretty much just like white americans who watch basketball, football. 90% of the black guys I know don't know anything about the sport currently.....NOTHING.

But if they did you best believe they would be just as stupid!

Let's wait and see how does it against the guys in the higher weight-classes - ones which are of similar size to him.

    Great talent though.

    I'll put him #2.

    - Floyd is retired
    - Maravilla took him 2 fights to figure out Williams when Donaire got it in 1 after 1 fight moving up in weight.
