I have been consciously increasing my fibre intake recently and I'm satisfied that it has a very positive effect with regards to weight/body fat regulation.

For you serious trainers out there, how much attention do you pay to fibre intake and do you believe there is any negative impact from high levels of dietary fibre?

how much you take now? and what do you eat to get it?
I've been trying to increase my intake also, but find it hard to sometimes to adequate sources of it

White beans and green vegetables mostly. I don't eat much fruit save for papaya. I've just read that raspberries are the king, something like twelve grams of fibre for 67 calories.

Anyway, I'm looking to meet 40 grams. I believe that a consistent high fibre approach will lead to year round leanness, I just have one pesky habit that I need to reduce in frequency (beer).

Beans, beans, and lots more beans. Problem solved.

If you eat 4-6 meals each day with around one serving of beans in each, that should be 20-40 grams of fiber per day (depending on the type of beans). That's more than enough. Any more than that and you'll probably start seeing some problems. Please see: 6 Health risks of eating too much fiber.

Of course, other excellent sources of dietary fiber are whole grains and veggies. But for me, beans are just convenient to cook and prepare.

There is no real negative impact past very regular shitting, as long as it isn't ridiculous amounts, but then it is hard to do that unless you ate, say, a kg of broccoli a day, I'd imagine. Fibre is important because I have always had constipation issues to some extent relatively easily, so there is always a noticeable difference almost instantly, going from just about having a slightly hard slightly small poo once a day, to two glorious fullbodied craps a day :D

I think it definitely has an effect on bodyweight, as it clears out your bowels, and at any given time you may have 5-6lbs of food in there. I have dropped 2lbs since yesterday, literally have eaten the same diet, just through regular shitting and keeping myself well hydrated, another important one but that's a different thread.

Who eats 4-6 times a day and has beans with them!! That's a lot of farts! :D
Broccoli and other green fibrous vegetables are excellent sources, doesn't just have to be beans.

  7. Definitely Beans or green vegetables.

If you're not boxing or bb see if you can get into baked beans of a morning and green vegetables for dinner.
