w/ the recent news of him resigning...will it also pave the way for cuban boxers to be given the chance to turn pro

...i mean he has literally deprived BOXING from a lot of talented boxers for almost half a century

hell yes we have been missing the boat!! Cuba is loaded with talent and I can only hope that his successor won't make the same horrible choices that Fidel did.

Castro dying is a big news story, but it doesn't make a huge difference for Cuba. His brother will take over and communism will continue. It'll probably be a while until we get to see Cuban boxers allowed to fight professionally.

haha true..just sad to think about how many great fighters come from PR and the Dominican Rep..cuba has world class fighters being held back because of the fear of defection. ******* government.

I'll tell you what dude . . . don't expect too much change of how things will run in Cuba. Raul Castro will not deviate from the hardline anti-democracy stand of his brother and everything will still have to be consulted with Fidel. :D

So to your question . . . NO.

The only thing we have to consider now is, who will be the successor of Raul Castro, who is 76 years old, only 5 years younger than Fidel.

Sure everything will probably still be the same in Raul hands, but I don't see him lasting more than 5 years

There is only one party in Cuba, of which the entire army is behind, thier will be no change!
