I wonder where Tiger would shake out on a MW list?

Well, funny you should say that.

I actually did top fifteens for all of the divisions accept featherweight. Tiger wasn't just an example it was the literal reason I excluded him. Tiger didn't make it, and so I didn't think Chalky should either. But then again, I might have missed a case like that and put them in.

Something like that. Middle is pretty heavy in the punchers department. Welterweight could be interesting.

Wright is a good shout Pep named him as the 2nd hardest puncher he faced.I've seen nothing of Aurelia but know he was considered a huge banger. Not familiar with Murphy.

As HM's i'll throw in Antonio Esparragoza and Ricardo Moreno. Bobby Chacon was no slouch at his best either. Ruben Olivares still packed a fair punch at Feather too.

There’s also Juan Laporte. He had a telegraphed right, but when it landed..

Jhonny Gonzalez is someone that should be listed as well, especially for his KO1 of Abner Mares.

George "K.O." Chaney was a big hitter. I've seen different reports, but Boxrec has him scoring 78 kayos in 101 victories.

I saved a few quotes about him from contemporaries:

“hardest slugging 122-pound boy that has developed in the American prize ring since the days of Terrible Terry McGovern”— The Milwaukee Journal - Aug 6, 1916

“Chaney has the biggest and strongest arms ever owned by a featherweight. He has the arms of a middleweight and a punch in his left that’s just as convincing as that packed by many 158 pounders.”—The Milwaukee Journal - Sep 3, 1916

“Just six inches! That’s all the distance George Chaney, lightweight whirlwind of Baltimore, needs to send his wicked left. For, if those six inches carry his glove to the proper spot, the referee usually counts 10 for the other fellow. Chaney’s southpaw wallop is the hardest punch in the lightweight world today. It probably has as much starch in it as any welterweight or middleweight can boast of.”— Muskogee Times Democrat - Mar 10, 1921

“He reached Dundee effectively but two or three times, but one blow which landed on the veteran's chest sent him back against the ropes as though he had been kicked by an army mule.”— Syracuse Herald - Nov 19, 1921; against Johnny Dundee

2-20. A bunch of other guys

Nah, there’s some very rightful claimants to be considered at or near the top, Danny Lopez and, yes, Naz among them.

But Sandy knocked Willie Pep silly in their first fight and that’s quite an accomplishment.
