He's a super lightweight who lost to Ponce who beat Ritson 18 months ago. Sure Fowler will tell us how good he is though.
This card and fight camp has gone right under the radar imo. The lack of awareness for this taking place Saturday goes to show how influential the Sky sports news machine is with advertising and reporting it every hour.
Oh that's probably a blessing in disguise, as Fowler can now fight the other fella at the end of the year or at the start of next year as a tune up before his next tune up.
Awful opponent for fowler..just a meaningless filler fight.didnt expect any better for a late replacement mind you.
Fowler's career has been very underwhelming so far considering his pomotion, backing and amateur pedigree and experience. It's hard to get interested in his fights because of the opposition. It's time Hearn stuck him in with the other domestic crop who are available to him at 154. I get why Hearn might be reluctant to do so, as another loss at this stage practically ends any chance of pushing Fowler towards world title eliminators etc. for now but if he's losing to the likes of Fitzgerald or Cheeseman then that's his level. I would rather see Fowler in some great domestic scraps, winning some, losing some, than see him get carefully navigated up the rankings, fighting average foreigners with half decent records til he gets a big fight which he hasn't really earned and isn't properly prepared for, but that's the route promoters seem to want to use nowadays with their fighters with name value. As if getting a world title fight matters more than finding out if they're actually good enough to fight for one or not.
I thought there was going to be loads of shoulder programming throughout the week to build the narrative? Feels very box nation at the moment
In keeping with the recent fight replacements even the shoulder programming is injured. Tony Bellew will be taking over from his personal Twitter account.
