Thing is with Hearn is he’s burnt his bridges with Sky and he basically treated them like **** lbh with some of the comments he made after he left. That last show he put on was basically an insult to Sky as well with how **** it was. Hearn has put all his eggs in one basket and has absolutely convinced himself that this will work that it’s going to be interesting to see what he does if it fails. I think he truly underestimated just how much influence Sky had . Plus he’s trying to do everything himself now production etc that’s how highly Hearn thinks of himself he doesn’t think he needs any help.
Yeah, a lot of people have sky built into their home packages or just pay for it otherwise. When Sky came out, it was absolutely revolutionary. Whilst there is a switch to subscription services now, I would say a massive proportion of over 30y/o households still have Sky and the fact that they can advertise on the majority of their channels gets peoples names out there so quickly. Khan’s build up to being a PPV fighter was so impressive and that was done with Sky’s backing.
Agree with that- the narrative being pushed that Conor Benn is either a household name or is some sort of social media star is a total myth. He is neither. He's got 113k twitter followers- very modest, unimpressive number considering the exposure he has got via Sky over the last 3 years. He's got just over 300k Instagram followers- again a long way of 'big numbers' on social media, and really nothing considering the exposure he has been given, his fathers name, and the money that has been invested in him directly and indirectly by Matchroom. If anything I could argue it shows he is not nearly as popular as he would like to think. There will be random unknown girls who just post pictures of themselves in bikini's all day with more of a following than he has... He also comes across incredibly badly and seems to lack any self awareness. If your a world class fighter fair enough but for someone with very limited ability like him it's going to be a problem for him going forwards.
Without Sky's considerable push, there's a good chance Fight Camp might get swallowed up by the Olympics and then Football returning.
This content is protected Why is this person at the launch? Is this the avenue they will go down? Anyone with a few social media followers will be about? I fear their "narrative" is going to be horrific
Its called marketing a new brand or service in the 21st Century. Both of those girls have more followers than 99.9% of british boxers and can then therefore help drive and market the boxing being shown
A member of One Direction was there and a bloke called 'Chunkz' whoever that is. With the celeb guests and 'talent panel' it's like a boxing version of X Factor. Saw a video of Conor Benn and Marku arguing. Benn was holding his kids pram at the same time with Sam Jones in the middle of them trying to break it up. Like something you'd see down the market stall on Eastenders. Matchroom Soap Opera.
Eh Day will stand and fall on what he produces in the ring - you cannot polish a turd. If it is the same old turd, then people will follow me and unsubscribe.
Yeah I get that. More pointing out how ****ing irritating this whole thing could end up. Lots of twats hyping up Benn fighting a corpse
This is really cringe-worthy. Seems like a reality show, but I guess this is a good marketing strategy to try and encourage people to subscribe to DAZN. I don't know anyone who has subscribed to DAZN yet, they really need some more content apart from boxing quickly. The first week of fight camp isn't bad but Benn shouldn't be headlining when you have two fighters in Billam-Smith and McCarthy fighting each other.
That's exactly the route they're going down. All the 'bubble' stuff, the fake beef caught on camera. Like an episode of Towie.
Looks like they're going after the younger Youtube generation, going after all the social media players really, going to be interesting if that equates to cash though,
