It was supposed to be Eubank first but Brook offered to step in. He was set up for life after that, although he would have had a far more successful career without that fight. He would have fought Spence and outpointed him (imagine where Spence would be now).
If Sky sort out some quality domestic shows regularly on top of their Top Rank deal, they could cause matchroom some major problems. DAZN will plan to put the price up but people aren't going to pay it with the standard of these matchroom cards. Eddie needs to raise his game pronto or his move to DAZN will backfire spectacularly.
Spot on. If Sky ditched boxing after Eddie left then DAZN would have a realistic chance of success but with Top Rank on Sky now and presumably domestic cards in the future Eddie is in big trouble IMO and he's not helping himself with the rubbish cards he's so far scheduling on DAZN. Said it before but a lot of the Sky Sports subscribers who watched Matchroom Saturday Fight Nights and ordered PPV's will see the big names from Top Rank being shown on regular Sky Sports are just going to think "great, we've top fighters from America to watch on Sky Sports" what they are not going to think is "Oh no where have Buatsi and Okolie gone ?? I must find a way to watch those guys"
They've had plenty of notice that hearns leaving. The new team they have coming in should of been in first sat night with a banging show.
People are over analysing this. Hearn has a cult following so they will pay no matter what. After that all they need is AJ and its a sucess over here.
Anyone see the video with Hearn talking about PPV, going to be more PPVs, it's going more towards PPVs. The fighters want more money and the only way to remedy that (in the world of Hearn) is by PPV. Did I mention he said there will and will need to be more PPVs? The amount this guy gets away with is unbelievable. Saw the Benn and Marku video. Benn another only caring about the £ notes which we all knew, Eddie knows so obviously wants to keep his cash-cow in check. Benn's got to get paid you know, he has to be on PPV soon, only way to pay him you know. N17 save me before I have a melt-down. So glad we still get fights like Taylor-Ramirez.
I get your point. However if Hearn builds Benn vs Marku into a casual fight it would get a lot more eyes here the loma vs Nakatani. he’s going to be doing counter programming on the bbc to builf the fights. I think in time it will work. If he keeps getting some American fights on decent uk times it will help.
If ever the Matchroom cult needed summing up it will be the fact that there'll be people actually willing to pay 750 quid to watch an awful card in Hearn's back garden whilst drinking champagne. Probably have Bellew coming out with c0cktail sausages and pineapple sticks.
Eddie is a salesman and he would try and sell ice to an Eskimo sorry Inuit , I wanted to believe him when he bigged up the new DAZN deal and how this would allow Matchroom to up the ante in terms of quality but this fight camp is the same old pap . I am not sure how The DAZN business will make a profit with this type of offering ?over the 3 weeks there are in total 3 to 5 fights of interest with several TBA’s.
My bad Earn only did the undercard and the WBSS fight was a massive bonus as the main event, It was the last PPV I bought anyways. I'm sure Parker v Chisora was meant to be co-main on that card and we got served it as a standalone PPV later, without even a Burns v Selby level fight on the undercard. Shows how bad things got towards the end of Eddie's run at Matchroom, those Whyte and Chisora PPV's were appalling.
