Fabio Wardley fights Nick Webb for the English Heavyweight title. Not a massive fight, but I like that.
Hearn was reckless though, he should never offered it to him I won a good wedge on my acca that night
Hearn said himself it’s the most money he’s ever lost on a fight the Loma Campbell one. Overestimated his cult following. Casuals aren’t interested in non-trash talkers like Loma and Campbell, especially in the lower weights.
This content is protected Granted Sky hardly pushed this event. But does make you wonder how many people there out there wanting to watch boxing for DAZN to work. Coupled with Inoue doing 7k odd
Not making excuses but, as you said, Sky didn’t push it and it was a lousy card. This would be more of a worry than Inoue which did nearly 500k on Sky’s YouTube channel.

This is what I was saying regarding Hearn. His not some magician who can just put on any show and the masses will all tune in. DAZN would know what his shows on sky were like ratings wise and its remarkable how hard they are going in on boxing. I can only think the Canelo vs Smith and Canelo v Saunders fights did generate some healthy subscriptions but you don't have those fights every week or even every month.
The thing people seem to miss is; 1. I know for a fact that Canelo vs BJS generated a very healthy number of subscribers. Rumoured to be close to 180-200k 2. DAZN have not experienced a dramatic drop off in subscribers numbers. Most people never get round to cancelling. DAZN by all accounts have 200-250k subscribers in the UK. Enough for their analytical experts to feel they should enter the market. 3. it’s a global platform. The cost of the UK offering is spread globally. DAZN apparently has 15 million global subscribers. The UK content was bought worldwide which mean the cost is actually very cheap and their viewing statistics they will utilise in-house is based on global performance. For instance Will their Japanese, German and Spanish subscribers enjoy the content. Only way of finding value will be 5 years down the line
Yeah that makes sense and I would expect cancellations to be low as £1.99 is such a tiny amount. The new price will be interesting, I think they go £7.99.
