If you love 80s boxing, check this out, it's an awesome list. Part I covers many of the best fights from 1980-1983. I must say I didn't care for the Shavers-Cobb mention though. Can't wait to see the rest of the list. There were a few missing, though:

    1980
    Leon Spinks vs. Eddie Lopez
    Mike Weaver vs. Gerrie Coetzee
    Ken Norton vs. Randall Cobb
    1981
    Larry Holmes vs. Trevor Berbick
Michael Spinks vs. Eddie Mustafa Muhammad
    1982
    Thomas Hearns vs. Wilfred Benitez
    Wilfred Benitez vs. Roberto Duran
    Renaldo Snipes vs. Trevor Berbick
    Leon Spinks vs. Jesse Burnett
    1983
Michael Dokes vs. Mike Weaver II
    Gerrie Coetzee vs. Pinklon Thomas
    Gerrie Coetzee vs. Michael Dokes

I know I missed several as well. The 1982 additions are especially underrated.

It's pretty cool that a young guy like you is interested in the classics like this. The 80's are where it's at

No offense but most of these were nowhere near the best fights of the year.

I just remembered Shavers vs. Mercado and Sims: two underrated hw brawls with both men down.

None taken, I wouldn't say any of them were best of the year, but they were still great fights that are underrated.

thnx, I prefer the older eras of boxing, it's moore scientifc and artistic imo, the fighters are more sportsmanlike, and the fights/ rivalries just seemed better to me. Anything new has already been done, no matter how good it is.

There are some really good fights on this list! That Hearns vs. Benitez fight was very interesting, don't know if Tommy had intentions to show he could go 15, I believe his approach was just a little different in this one. Good fight though
