    A genie appears before your bed as the sun rises. Before you react you’re given the best present in history – the chance to possess the film of five bouts that were either lost, or, never existed from 1900 onwards!

    It’s very difficult to settle with just five, but what do you want? Provide reasons.

    Mine would look something like this:

    Jim Driscoll-Abe Attell (1909) – Driscoll’s signature performance. Two master boxers fight hard for ten rounds. Would be nice to silence reports.

    Sam McVey-Sam Langford II (1911) – McVey causes a hiccup during what may be the Boston Terror’s most venomous period. A close, bruising fight over 20 where McVey demonstrates a level of mastery he’s not known for.

    Harry Greb-Gene Tunney I (1922) – Finally able to get a handle on Greb’s style in one of boxing’s bloodiest episodes. One-sided but Tunney shows amazing grit.

    Charles-Moore III (1948] – A spiteful Ezzard. The last fight before Sam Baroudi. Possibly the two greatest light-heavyweights. Fast-paced, see-saw action with a Castillo-Corrales type finale.

    Willie Pep-Sandy Saddler II (1949) – Pep dazzles over 15 with a booming atmosphere. Hairy moments in the closing rounds.

    Charley Burley-Archie Moore
    Elbows McFadden-Joe Gans (D10 1900..frustrating this because these two went to war in 1899)
    Tunney-Greb (the disputed 1923 fifteen rounder)
    Terry McGovern-George Dixon (the eight round KO for the title in 1900)
    Jack Britton-Ted Kid Lewis (that astonishing 1919 KO)

    Ted, as posted before my father saw the fight between his local favourite from Greenwich Village, NY Gene Tunney, and the
    great 12 pound LIGHTER Harry Greb in old MSG in 1922. As a young boy I asked my dad "who was the greatest fighter you ever saw", he replied Harry Greb, a name I never heard before.
    Oh, would I have loved to see the Iron City Express ringside !
    But I did see Willie Pep avenge his ko loss to Sandy Saddler in 1949 on our small tv set from MSG. He skirted with danger
    by his magnificent boxing ability that night winning a 15 round decision...And I saw that bout on tv film several times after many years ago so I know it existed...Too bad ESB fans never will see the Willie Pep I saw ringside in 1943 when he was in his unhittable prime. After his near fatal plane crash in 1947, Pep
    was never the same ,losing some of his amazing quickness...
    The Pep I saw in 1943 would surely have beaten Saddler, I am convinced...
