Fight Hype Essentially Admits They Blew The "Koncz Is Fired" Story

    When *********** ran a story with that Nathanielsz guy interview Pac after that story, and in the story Pac playfully pointed at Koncz and stated "See, he's still here", knew the fight hype story couldn't be believed

    It was probably the back stabbing hustler Timothy James that sent those email that Teddy Atlas was talking about. A back

    ground check on James revealed he was a steroid abuser and a felon.

    pac's got too many people in his circle. Remember the first negotiations. People need to shut the f*ck up. If I were Pac, i'd threaten beatdowns to those who leak info.

    Back stabbing Americans i wouldn't trust the lot of them. YES, thanks for the PEDS and stuff coz it levels the playing field.A lot of BOXERS is on PEDS in America according to Conte so it basically makes it fair in a way for foreign boxers to have that stuff too.

    No, he's not fired.

    There is some talk of some change in his duties, but I don't know if that is accurate or not.

    That's the site Timothy James runs/ran.

    that's why I f'n laugh at anyone who links hearsay news. Its just half hack reporters writing down statements. Its not news, its a soap opera magazine.

    All the big time people in the sport of boxing know the name of the game. Boxers will yap their mouth if they want to fight somebody.

    Brother, I'm with you 1000%.

    Pac's a great dude, from all accounts. Problem is, he doesn't give a f*ck about of a lot of the extra stuff, from what I can tell. And that's cool, but unfortunately there are a lot of self-interested people who will use Pac's lack of concern to try to make money off of him and who end up seriously, seriously hurting Pac's rep.

    Someone from Team Pac needs to get control of that aspect of things, and possibly Pac's $$$ as well. Hopefully, that is beginning to happen. If I were Pac, I would majorly lay the hammer down right now. These hanger-ons are hurting him, and that should end.

    I managed to read that article the second it got posted and the question mark?????????????? was always apart of the title. Then when I read it, it seemed like they were just reporting what information they gathered but yet it was also written that their calls to Koncz were unanswered so they couldn't confirm. That only sounds like 100% of how the media usually of reports.

    I also remember a certain story that got reported off of a Bob Arum comment on how Floyd Mayweather turned down a supposed 100 million deal to fight Pacquiao in some country. It got reported all over the place(including Fighthype) and Floyd's haters were all over ESB talking about it. Only to find out from Floyd himself that no offer of that much money was ever brought to him or Al Haymon.

    The media can spin stories how they so choose. With or without confirmation. They posted an article reporting what they heard and then they posted an article giving the real deal when they got the facts. That's standard practice in ALL media outlets. This story was no different then any other. No need to go ape **** over it.

    I'm not the world's biggest fan of "Fight Hype" or some of the article choices Ben Thompson makes.

    That said, he works hard and he gets relevant interviews. I know a lot of people in the business or who are blogging who work a lot less hard than he does.

    However, what you said is true: Much of this stuff is 'reporters' writing down statements. Then you can label it 'news' and take whatever angle you want with it.

    Most people don't understand how media works. I'm not saying that to sound like a jerk, but to try to point out how easy it is to manipulate the media process and basically turn it into a propaganda process. Unfortunately, this is much of what passes for "news" these days, both on sites and in newspapers.

    I copied the title when I first saw it because I wanted to follow up on the story. I did not see the question mark when the story first appeared, and I just copied and pasted the title straight from it.

    Now, did I miss the question mark when I did so? It's possible, but I doubt it.

    What you're saying is right about how the media works, I agree on that. And, Ben did try to call and follow up on the story. That was good. But, if he was saying Koncz was fired and he was not, the standard practice is to say/headline something like "Report: Koncz fired" vs "Koncz has been fired." Subtle difference, but meaningful.

    Honestly, I could care less if Koncz had been fired. My issue was with how the piece seemed to be headlined/presented.
