Despite his bold pronouncements that Manny Pacquiao is going to fall on May 2, Ricky Hatton believes their much-awaited match is even-steven.

"It is a 50:50 fight and those are always the best fights. Lots of people think I am going to win and lots of people think Manny will beat me. That is exactly what you want in the fight game. The best fighting the best," Hatton told the Bulletin during a break in his training.

"I think the fans want great fights and there is nothing better out there than me versus Manny. I know Manny is a boxing fan and I am a boxing fan, so why would we not want to fight each other? I would pay to watch it," he said.

"He is quick, he has a good chin and he loves to get involved in a tear up. What more could you want? The job he did on Oscar was hugely impressive. He cut him down and barely got touched on the whiskers. Great fighters can punch and land and not get punched. You are not in the ring for a tickling contest," said Hatton.

"Manny is the type of fighters I would love to pay to watch because he has a brilliant fluid style. He pops shots at you all the time. His stamina is immense and he breaks the heart of his opponents. He isn’t going to break mine," added Hatton, who will transfer his training camp in Las Vegas late this month.

    I agree with every word.

Though if I was being a bit nasty I might say type something like, "Great fighters can punch and land and not get punched. Which is why I punch, get in and hold on and hit to the back of the head and wrestle til we get broken up"

    Oh yeah . . . that's a logical statement. It's really a 50/50 fight.

    :good

I think it is - Hatton is phenomenally strong and a huge 140lbser.

It's strength based pressure vs speed based pressue.

I think it will be interesting to see Hatton in with a southpaw - I can't think of any - Hatton fans - Has Ricky fought a decent southpaw before?

It's kind of weird when two fighters keep hugging each others nuts instead of trashtalking.

Agreed. This fight doesn't need hype, the names alone will sell this, two good lads. Give me this over the trash talking some of these idots come out with. That **** happens way too much nowdays imo.

Who needs to do their own trashtalk when they've got Roach and Mayweather Sr.?

Hatton's been a class act during this press junket. It's good to see; I hope it influences other fighters.
